AL: DETROIT (33-25) at TEXAS (21-38) <h3>Rangers attempt to cool Sheffield, Tigers</h3> Detroit (33-25) at Texas (21-38) 8:35 pm EDT ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- The Texas Rangers will try tostop a Detroit Tigers offense that exploded for 10 runs onWednesday when they conclude their three game series Thursdayat the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Gary Sheffield was especially tough on Texas on Wednesday,slugging a pair of homers and driving in five runs to lead thecharge. Kameron Loe (1-5, 6.37 ERA) will get the start for the Rangers.The 25-year-old righthander has not won since April 21 againstOakland, going 0-5 with a 7.29 ERA in his eight starts since. Loe has never starter against the Tigers before, but has allowedtwo runs - one earned - in 2 1/3 innings of relief in hiscareer against them. Detroit will counter with Mike Maroth (3-2, 5.28). The veteranlefthander has struggled recently, allowing five runs or more ineach of his last three starts. The Tigers picked up wins in each of Maroth's first sevenstarts, but have lost the last three. The veteran has struggledagainst the Rangers in the past, owning a 1-3 record with an8.67 ERA in six games - five starts. After suffering through a 9-20 month of May, Texas is 2-3 so farin June. The Tigers have won three of their last four games.
