That may not helpthem against the Oakland Athletics. Ervin Santana takes the mound as the Angels open a three-gameseries with the Athletics on Monday. While Anaheim is 45-22 at home, it has yet to win a series hereagainst Oakland and has lost eight of the last 13 meetings. Scot Shields allowed a go-ahead grand slam to Hank Blalock andGarret Anderson struck out with the bases loaded in the ninthinning of a 8-7 loss to Texas on Sunday. Despite their second straight loss, the Angels still hold a 61/2-game lead over the Seattle Mariners (73-62) in the AmericanLeague West. Santana (5-12, 6.38 ERA) will look to bounce back from his worststart of the season. The 25-year-old righthander recorded justone out, allowing five runs and four hits in a 10-6 loss toSeattle on Tuesday.
