DALLAS (Ticker) - The NBA's worst team meets a championshipcontender on Wednesday when the Minnesota Timberwolves visit theDallas Mavericks.


The Timberwolves have been absolutely dismal this season,winning just their second game, 103-94, against the New OrleansHornets on Monday. The victory snapped a five-game losingstreak - already Minnesota's second five-game slide thiscampaign.


Minnesota ranks near the bottom of almost every statisticalcategory, including points scored and point differential.

The Mavericks haven't looked like the team that went an NBA-best67-15 last season, but appear to be a contender in the WesternConference despite entering Wednesday's game having lost threestraight games.


Dallas lost the last two games of a three-game road trip beforeenduring a 110-98 setback to the Washington Wizards on Monday -their first loss home loss.


The Mavericks went 36-5 at home last season and are 6-1 thisseason at American Airlines Center. Dallas hasn't lost toWashington at home since 2001 - a span of five games.
