Cal tries to end home skid vs. Oregon State

Oregon State (3-3) at No. 2 California (5-0) 7:00 pm EDT

BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- For whatever reason, Californiahas not had any success in recent years at home against OregonState.

DeSean Jackson and the second-ranked Golden Bears try to endtheir home woes against the Beavers when the Pac-10 Conferencerivals meet on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Cal (5-0, 2-0 Pac-10) has not beaten Oregon State in Berkeleysince 1997. The last time the teams met here, in 2005, theBeavers posted a 23-20 win.

The Bears did, however, exact a measure of revenge last year, trouncing the Beavers in Corvallis, 41-13.

Cal should be well-rested, as it has not played since edgingthen-No. 11 Oregon in Eugene, 31-24, on September 29.

The Golden Bears moved up to No. 3 in the media poll followingthat victory, then moved up another spot after Pac-10 rivalSouthern California was stunned at home by Stanford lastSaturday.

A star wideout and return man, Jackson bolstered his HeismanTrophy hopes with 11 catches for 161 yards - both career highs -and two touchdowns for the Bears, who had not won in Eugene in20 years.

The Bears have not started 6-0 since 1950, when the team went9-0-1 in the regular season before losing to Michigan in theRose Bowl.

Oregon State (3-3, 1-2) earned its first Pac-10 win of theseason with a 31-16 home victory over Arizona last Saturday.

Yvenson Bernard ran for 140 yards and two scores and had a TDreception for the Beavers, who held a 24-3 lead after the firstquarter and cruised thereafter.
