Ryan and the fourth-ranked Eagles try to remain undefeated thisseason when they visit rival Notre Dame, which finally has awin.


Last week, Boston College improved to 6-0 for the first timesince 1942 with a 55-24 win over visiting Bowling Green.

A Heisman Trophy candidate, Ryan completed 24-of-32 passes for312 yards and four touchdowns in three quarters of work for theEagles, who led 52-10 entering the final period.


Notre Dame (1-5), meanwhile, finally got in the win column thisseason with an unexpected 20-6 triumph at UCLA last weekend.

The Irish - who outscored the Bruins 17-0 in the second half -intercepted four passes and made three fumble recoveries, withlinebacker Maurice Crum returning one 34 yards for a touchdownto close the scoring late in the third quarter.


The rivals have not met since 2004, when Boston College edgedthe Tyrone Willingham-coached Irish here, 24-23, on alast-minute touchdown.
