    COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Kent State coach Doug Martin cannotbe too confident in his team's chances to move the ball muchthis week, let alone score.


    The Golden Flashes have a tough task ahead of them Saturday whenthey visit third-ranked intrastate foe Ohio State.

    The Buckeyes lead the nation in scoring defense - yielding just7.2 points per game - and are second in total defense, giving uponly 210 yards per contest.


    Last Saturday, Ohio State went into West Lafayette and shut downthen-No. 23 Purdue, 23-7, in a Big Ten Conference game.

    The Buckeyes limited the Boilermakers to just four rushing yardsand allowed a touchdown only with 10 seconds to play.

    Todd Boeckman tossed a pair of early touchdowns but also threeinterceptions for Ohio State in the triumph.


    Kent State slipped to 1-2 in Mid-American Conference play with a20-13 home loss to Miami of Ohio last Saturday. Julian Edelmanthrew a pair of interceptions in the setback.


    The teams have only met once before, in 2002, when Ohio Staterolled to a 51-17 triumph.
