Timberwolves 80, Pistons 79 Hmm....interesting game. I think we go away with that Billups call at the end, but apparently someone upstairs is on our side(or it could be the refs). But no matter, we ended up with the W, that's all that counts. Now on to the stats! Garnett had his usual game with 24 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 assists. Not to mention 2 blocks. Sprewell was second on the team in scoring with 17 points, 4 steals, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Cassell contributed with 9 points and 8 assists. Johnson didn't play today, and Madsen took his spot in the lineup. Madsen ended up with 3 points and 7 rebounds. Hudson came off the bench to score a season high 10 points. Hoiberg also contributed with 10 points off the bench, and added 3 steals. Gary Trent played 10 minutes today scoring 4 points. On the other side of the ball, former Timberwolf Chauncey Billups scored 18 points. Mehmet Okur scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Richard Hamilton contributed with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Wallace ended up with 5 points and 10 rebounds. Fun game to watch, very controversial. But a W is a W. Recap Box Score
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting twolvefan11:</div><div class="quote_post">Garnett had his usual game with 24 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 assists. Not to mention 2 blocks. </div> It's pretty odd to here that twenty-four points, seventeen rebounds, six assists, and two blocks make a usual game, but judging by his averages I guess you're right. I had no idea Garnett was this successful. If anyone on the Grizzlies had a night like that, it'd be a career night; even for Gasol. I looked at the replays of the controversial play and I have to agree that the official made a good call. Technically Billups pushed off with his left arm, and that earned him the offensive foul. However, I do find it very odd that the officials let such a trivial play dictate the game. It's almost as if they wanted the Timberwolves to win.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Wave:</div><div class="quote_post">It's almost as if they wanted the Timberwolves to win.</div> Can you blame them? Who wouldn't want the Timberwolves to win? J/k, but man, this was a great game. I bet in a minute there will be Pistons fans coming in here to talk about this controversial play. But they have every right to, but just a warning, don't take it to overboard.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Wave:</div><div class="quote_post">Technically Billups pushed off with his left arm, and that earned him the offensive foul.</div> Technically, before that, Cassell nearly raped him by bumping him twice. He only pushed off with his hand after the pump fake and by that time he had been fouled at last twice. Look at the Pistons viewpoint to get an accurate respresentation and explanation of the call. Even purehoop agrees, and when he says that it should have been a no-call, then Pistons obviously won. http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread...5907#post165907 LOL, twolvefan you were damn right that I would be in here in a minute. Oh, and don't worry about me going overboard. I can say anything in the Piston forum, but I will respect other team's forums.
Oh well, it's all over but the crying. There's nothing anyone can do about the outcome, because it's not like the NBA is going to call the teams back to play a few more seconds over again. Does anyone actually remember what happened in the game outside the last minute?
Yeah, outside the last minute it was a great game. It was a good back and forth game. The Pistons were able to hang on and not let the game slip away. Memo kept the game close in the 3rd and brought us back in the 4th. Who said anybody is crying Wave, if you check our thread out, I'm making jokes about it......and wishing that those refs are fired/Jermaine has a career ending injury but it is only fun. I want to see some articles from the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press about this game. I'll post some up when they are made. The reason that anybody cares is because it was a great game between two great teams. If it was Minnesota vs Atlanta and the Twolves were winning by 50 and then Atl had that offensive foul, nobody would care. However, when the game has a 1 point margin and the refs did not call anything before that, then this call creates some issues and will be remembered as robbery by all Piston fans for a long time. (Even though it has no real effect on anything) Oh...and um...the score was 80-79. I have no idea why NBA.com says it was 82-79. The Twolves won by 1 point.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PyroManiac:</div><div class="quote_post">Who said anybody is crying Wave, if you check our thread out, I'm making jokes about it</div> Not me, "It's all over but the crying" is just a saying. It wasn't a personal attack. It also wasn't an attack at the Pistons fanbase. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting iamme:</div><div class="quote_post">actually the final score was 80-79. the T-wolves didn't score after the controversial call.</div> Nope, check the boxscore.

Oh, and I never take anything personally so don't worry about offending me. As for the score, NBA.com is wrong. The score was 80-79. Not only is that what the ESPN box score has, but it is what their highlights have shown during the halftime of the Spurs/Suns game. Also, you can even check the Recap from NBA.com that Twolvefan11 has posted. It says that the Twolves won 80-79. And of course the links, iamme posted below...

yea, this was a nail bitter down to the end. Like twolvesfan said, we got the W in the win column and when it comes to playoff time, thats all that really matters. They dont say "oh, well they played really well this game and lost in the last seconds....maybe we should let them have this 8th seed". No, Every game counts and this game showed alot of heart when the wolves would just not give up getting 2 even 3 defensive rebounds in one detroit posession. Definately proud of the home team on this game especially.
