Game is on CSNBA, but not high-def (Sharks game).

Looks like Wright is starting at PF, cool.

This game is all but over already with the officiating. Warriors are getting jacked. Randolph is going to get the rookie treatment and have every call go against him. And Maggette sucks. Again.

Randolph with a couple blocks that were called fouls. The first culd have gone either way the the refs understandably called it in favor of KG but the other was as clean as can be. Also screwed us on a Maggette traveling call that should have been a jump ball or a no call.

    Not doing too badly though.

Good first half by the Dubs. Why do I still feel like we're going to lose?

Oh yeah because we're playing the Celtics in Boston.

Here is a perfect illustration of how Maggette is killing the Warriors:

    magsuck.jpg

Random turnaround jumper, feet basically on or just inside the 3-point line, defender right in his face, :14 left on the shot clock, and absolutely no Warrior in any position to rebound. Zero chance of a rebound. That CANNOT be allowed to continue!

Yup, Corey Maggette should have one of those bark collars you give to dogs -- every time he steps into a contested outside shot, he should be zapped. Unbelievable. I guess we did get a pretty even swap for Baron Davis...

Sigh... Wright and Randolph combine for less than 15 minutes on the floor. Wright had 4 rebounds in only 13 minutes. I wonder how we got outrebounded yet again and Biedrins only ended up with 9 boards. I know this will offend Nelson fans but I'll say it anyway. F Nelson. I've had it with his game. It doesn't matter who he starts, it'll just end up degenerating into a type of ball that doesn't get this franchise any better long term. It just won't elevate this franchise because we don't develop any power players. He's just like our ownership. He's great at one thing, but when it comes to other skill sets we need to be successful, it just doesn't provide long term success.

Well enough of the btching. To the Warriors credit, though, they did well against a far superior team. Great job warriors. I really don't think Maggette is the real problem, it's because we're not a small team and Nelson continues to play small ball no matter who he starts at PF. He gives Sjax, Mags, or any scoring swingman the green light over playing a structured halfcourt offense. This means outside shot selection could potentially be off most nights rather than getting it inside the paint and following through. In nelly's offense it gives Sjax, Azu, Crawford, and Mags the green light when the ball should always move around first and touch different people. It did earlier in the season, but not when shot distribution is mostly all outside shooting or dribbling themselves into a turnover. I'm just happy the Warriors were making free throws and getting to the foul line (I guess any ballhandler at the greenlight to attack the rim). That made up for things.

At some point this offseason the offense has to involve the big men more or this team will not work. It has a chance to work but we need a better coach at this and get these guys to play defense and play some halfcourt. We're not small ball anymore and we shouldn't be. Small ball teams don't play any defense, they don't rebound, and they have problems in the painted areas or manufacturing offense outside of running. I gotta stop watching the Warriors because it is killing me the way they play and avoid playing real power forwards. Two things will happen: our swingman at the 4 doesn't want to play for Nelson anymore (like our previous guys) or our real power forwards end up leaving the organization because they can't get any burn under Nelson. That's why I say f Nelson. He's not willing to do squat outside of small ball and that doesn't help develop our franchise from being cellar dwellers. WE need size.

Now that I've calmed down a bit and watched only the 2nd quarter, I can say it was great. Turiaf + Biedrins was a pleasure to watch. We actually played defense and rebounded!

I don't mind Maggette as long as he sticks to his game. It seems the Warriors have the reputation around the league that the style of play is "free" meaning that anyone can do whatever they want at any given time. This mentality might have worked last year and the year before but we don't have that floor general in Baron Davis anymore (yeah, I'm sick of referring back to him always).

Unfortunately, you only watched the best part. That was probably the best quarter they've played all year. The rest was a lot of the same old mistakes.

Nah I saw the whole thing, I just only want to remember the best part. That and maybe the first handful of games this season before Nelly got oblivious that he doesn't have a run n' gun team anymore.

Kensaku is right. Keep it simple for Mags and he is awesome. He's a great finisher and weapon to soften the other team's D so we can ride the foul bonus. The tricky part is keeping the ball away from Mags so he doesn't do anything outside of his game.

And also, It's like what Warriorfan was saying earlier in another thread about this team seemingly having too much freedom on Don Nelson's offense. We need to get more organized and disciplined as a team offense. Then we can do some clever things like move the ball side to side, moving the ball inside, only to bring it back out for an good 3-pointer. Or we can collapse all the offense inside and scoot the outside shooters in to take the 18-20 foot jumpshot. Or we can use more screens to free up shooters or utilize more dive cuts. The Warriors just aren't that sophisticated as a team. They have no imagination outside of throwing the ball up and trying to play 1 on 1.
