http://www.tampabay.com/sports/football/bucs/article805280.ece Too bad Brian Griese would be the beneficiary if Jeff Garcia is sent packing, and not Josh Johnson.
I'd love to see Johnson get the chance, but as a rookie 4th round QB... he's probably better off sitting out this year and learning. Teams that come to mind (in a trade for Garcia) are Washington, Minnesota, and to a lesser extent, New England. Not sure how Garcia would fit in New England in a vertical style offense (he wouldn't)... but in Washington, he'd be a perfect fit for that WCO. But I think Washington is going to give Campbell every opportunity to fall on his face again, this year. Minnesota was in the market for Favre... would they look at Garcia?
I'd favor Minnesota in that battle. They have a chance to do much bigger things with a proven QB than Washington does, IMO.
Agreed. But with the Redskins now sitting 1-1, Snyder might feel compelled to make a trade for such a QB. Although...with the way Campbell played last week, probably not so much anymore. OTOH, Minnesota just benched Tarvaris...
Smells like 1. trade 2. not happy with him (which could lead back to #1) The question is, does Minnesota make a move...? If Ferrotte plays well, they might not want too. But I don't see how a team that was supposed to be in contention as a darkhorse would want to sit back. The Jackson experiment was a failure. Garcia is a stop gap until they figure out what to do... might be worth the move.
I'm of the attitude that if Jackson failed, so will Frerotte. He hasn't done anything and has been a career backup, for the most part. They have to make a trade. Hopefully with us, though in today's market trading Jeff probably doesn't land us a whole lot, as far as draft picks go.
