Brad Biggs of National Football Post passed along word on Wednesday that Jeff Garcia is working out in the hopes of playing professional football this fall. And no, it won't be for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks, the team that placed him on their provisional roster last week along with another former NFL QB. Biggs writes that "Garcia doesn't figure to be a savior for anyone, but he certainly could help a team in a jam and right now you could do much worse seeking an emergency alternative on the street." We'll go a step further in saying that he's probably better than certain teams' current option at No. 2. Furthermore, if the Philadelphia Eagles do elect to drop Michael Vick, we've suggested that Garcia would make a nice backup option to Kevin Kolb should the team feel insecure with rookie Mike Kafka in the 2-spot.
