Gareth Barry in the form that he is in this season playing as a midfielder and a defender ubder MON means that he would be ideal for England if only given the chance. OK..He is not the quickest but his skill level has improved and he has one of the best left foots in the premiership. He is also very reliable and strong in the tackle. Its not often that you get a player that can solve problems and play well in at least 3 posistions.

i agree completely. when mcalren tried the 342 barry could have played as a wingback or one of the back three. its actually time that mcalren stops looking at players who can't cut it (even in their club side!) and try some of the premierships best english left footers like barry and taylor at portsmouth.

I used to play football with Gareth Barry. FACT.

My friend played with him at Hastings Utd before he moved to Villa and we used to have a kickabout every wednesday night.
