That is going to be a huge advantage for Garnett. I was hoping that he would add more muscle this offseason. He will be able to bump and bang with the stronger players now.
Adding more muscle isn't going to change anything. His body is always going to stay the same. Unless this added muscle suddenly makes him this inside force then I don't see it mattering. 253 for a guy 7'1 isn't that much.

The most all around player in the league, all he needed was some more muscle. He already has inside moves, now the muscle will help him bang down low.

Thats the way he is built. Nothing will change that. If you actually stood near KG you would realise he has quite big muscles last year. As great as KG is, he won't be considered the best until he can beat people down in the post. Which I don't see that ever happening. He is an amazing talent and player that puts up monster numbers but sadly thats It. You clearly havn't played basketball at a high enough level If you think just adding muscle makes you a great inside player.
Some of you are missing the point. He has been training his legs. This means that he shouldn't be having any knee problems anymore, and possibly a slight boost in endurance. KG is probably already as big as he will get. Dont be expecting him to all of the sudden be able to bang in the paint next season.
Allnet, he's still the best all around player and this should just improve his game even more. Like KGMVP said this will limit his knee problems which is really good for the Wolves.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">You clearly havn't played basketball at a high enough level If you think just adding muscle makes you a great inside player.</div> It doesn't really make you a better inside player, however it helps you establish position easier down low and box out/defensive rebounding.

Another thing that (may be good or bad) this means is he'll have moooorrreee game time. TWolves fans know that he is practically asked to play the whole game becuase we seem to shrink when he's not in. Bittersweet for him.
^^^ I don't think so, he's the kinda guy who wants to play as long as he possibly can. Dont blame him either, it's not like he has anyone he can trust to keep things going. He probably hates having to sit down.
whenever one of the top 3 players in the nba improves to the extent where he can take over, dominate, or rape a team by himself without the improvement is extremely worrisome for the rest of the league...especially the western conference. sad part is he has no help
I don't know, this maybe a good thing, but isn't it the more muscle he adds, the more weight his knees have to carry?
He is probably conditioning his knees as well, and his leg muscles. Whatever strength exercises he does for his legs will improve knee stability as long as he does it properly, which I assume he would.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't know, this maybe a good thing, but isn't it the more muscle he adds, the more weight his knees have to carry?</div> Yes, but if he's gaining muscle in his legs then it's also strengthning his tendons and muscles in his legs which means it won't be a problem. He's gaining weight, but his body is getting even better at holding the weight. Also the weight gain isn't significant enough for it to likely cause problems, he was at about 240-245 lbs before, so it's 8-13 pounds which is a good amount, but not huge.
