"The Bulls are a very good team," said Gasol, addressing Chicago reporters Saturday for the first time since substantive trade talks between Paxson and Grizzlies general manager Jerry West failed. "They're very talented and have very good options to move forward and become a dominant team in the East.

"I think they're a young team and have the right pieces. I just think they need somebody in there to provide the scoring and control the tempo of the game a little better, especially down the stretch."

Asked if the Bulls were one team he had in mind when he went to Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley about his desire to play for a contender, Gasol said, "absolutely."</div>

Here are some Deng and Gordon comments...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">'I was really excited,'' Deng said. ''I've adjusted to Chicago. I didn't know how things were going to go down. Wherever I was going to be, I was going to get my job done. But like most people, I don't really like moving around. I really felt comfortable in Chicago. I felt like the season was going great. I really didn't want to adjust to somewhere new.

''It makes you feel good and it also builds up your confidence. You just feel good that people feel the way they feel. Obviously, I feel the same way. It just gives you confidence to go out there and keep playing hard.''

Gordon, whose name was also mentioned as a player the Grizzlies were interested in, said the Bulls had fun with the rumors.

''We used to joke about it a little bit,'' said Gordon, who torched the Grizzlies for 33 points. ''You can't take those things real seriously because it ends up taking the focus away from the games and things like that. We just tried to make fun out of it so it really wouldn't bother us that much.''

In the end, both Gordon and Deng said they're glad Paxson opted to stand pat.

''If we would have got a guy like Pau, we would have lost a lot, too,'' Gordon said. ''The team definitely wouldn't have been the same. We're happy with the team we have. Maybe we'll get somebody down the line. I think this team is good enough to advance far in the playoffs.'' </div>
