There is more bad news for the Grizzlies. Spanish star Pau Gasol would rather play for a championship contender. Gasol told the "El Tirachanas" program on Spanish television's COPE that he wanted "to be with a team competing for a ring," something that he added would be "very difficult" to do with the Grizzlies.I would love to see the bulls go after him... He can push us over the edge... "when 100%"

I think he'd be good addition to any team, he's very good as a player. I'd love him on the Lakers. It's too bad the Grizzlies look to be going downhill and it's getting steeper with this.

whats with all these players wanting out? Cant they just play basketball and be fine with it. I know the grizz are bad but its only because gasol isnt playing, I mean what team would still be good if their best player had been out for the first part of the season

Ainge: screw Iverson, go after Pau Gasol! Pierce and Pau would be much better.

But can I please have a link?

    EDIT: Nevermind. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/437...ship_contender/

Also note that this did not say that he asked for a trade.

He basically did ask to be traded, and I think he will get his wish. There are a lot of big names wanting trades and having rumors around them.I think Pau would be perfect in Boston. He and Pierce would make a damn good one-two combo and with the other surrounding players I think that they are legit playoff contenders, however his concerns were to be traded to a contender, and that is something the Celtics are not. I think that the Nuggets could persue him, maybe something involving Nene.I think that in the end he will have a new team to play for this season. He has been talking about everything frm a trade, to playing in Spain. He wants out of Memphis.

Teams like Boston or Sacramento with no post scoring could use Pau. He's a very good player. He gets blocks, he cans core underneath, shoot it, pass it..He is a very efficient big man, and he can do alot of different things.

Now.. if all of this even amounts to anything and Memphis does try and move Gasol, then they will be reluctant to move him to a Western Conference team. Therefore, I see the top 2 suitors would be Chicago and Boston.

Chicago can put together a better young package than any team in the league, and they need a low post scoring option more than anything, so IF Pau does get traded - I say Chicago gets him. If not, Boston would be nice as well. Paul Pierce and Pau Gasol surrounded with some young role players would be very nice, and a legit team in the East.

You know who needs him the most!! the FCKin sonics.. if they get him but manage to keep Ray allen getting rid of Shard ridnour or wilcox with watson they will do good. They could trade ridnour wilcox and some money or a draft pick. And right now if the grizz did this they would have 2 first round picks their sh*tty one and the sonics. Ray Shard and Gasol would do good collison who aint bad could be the PF. I'd say this would be a very good squad. Except for their bench. Idk if this sounds stupid but if the sonics get him and keep ray and 1of the other big 3 on their team. They could do some damage.Oh Yeah and the knicks could be a good place for him too. if the grizz are willing to take up knicks picks and players. they could use francis which THE KNICKS DONT NEED!!

I believe he said this during the summer, he has already expressed that he might question being a grizzly if we dont improve(with him in the lineup). Hes not going to demand a trade cause the grizzlies suck BECAUSE HES NOT PLAYING FOR US DUE TO INJURY. This has already been discussed througout the off-season, and he made it very clear that he wants to always be a grizzly, but he wanted changes, and thats what he got. And when he comes back, he will have a player in Hakim Warrick playing along side him who both can complement each other and become one of the best frontcourts in the NBA. So im not worried about this at all.

So I still wouldn't worry for the Grizz that much. This year just isn't their season, is all.

I dont like this decision what so ever. He doesn't have that bad of a supporting cast IMO, and not all teams are going to be able to win a championship. He is still pretty young and he has ALOT of time to get a ring. He is a franchise player, and I honestly think that Memphis could be a very good team if all the players are healthy. They have some young talent that could help them out alot in a few years. I really dont like that he asked to be traded....he isnt in Iversons shoes.

I changed the title of this thread and moved it to the Grizzlies section because it's misleading and he DID NOT ask for a trade. Every player in the league will tell you they would rather play for a contender.

Most likely false, but I heard a rumor saying Pau Gasol and Mike Miller to Orlando for Darko, Hill, and Redick.Howard and Gasol front court?

But I dont like it if we keep the same direction we are in now.
