I don't normally start threads, but this is truly an eye opening video. It seems to me that we should get to know the people of Gaza, before we condemn them. (Sorry for posting videos. I have been going through some specific autistic sensory issues, during this pandemic, that have made it difficult for me to concentrate on reading written articles.)
You don't need to apologize for posting videos. I like your vids. Don't have time to watch them all but I do appreciate you sharing them.
As a Jew, I used to always side with Israel - until I went there. A few years ago, I was invited to speak in Jerusalem, but also in Nablus and Hebron in the West Bank. That completely changed my thinking. Yes, there are two sides, and yes, the Palestinians have squandered every opportunity for peace and prosperity (Camp David, etc.) but once I went there, it was painfully obvious that Israel has become an intolerable cruel oppressor. The life the Palestinians are forced to lead is degrading.
Thanks and appreciate you sharing! I know it’s a real sad situation for the palestinian people, innocent people. Would there be a better chance for peace if Hamass wasnt a ruling faction?
Yes, for sure, 100%. But note: Where I was was not Gaza, it was the West Bank. The West Bank (actually, everyone there, including the Israelis, all call it "Palestine") is run by the Palestinian Authority. Not Hamas. But even the Palestinian Authority had a horrible time of it. I'll give you one example: I met a young woman who runs a small tech business in Nablus. She lives in a refugee camp 25 miles away (for 10 years!). Takes the bus in and out every day. She can't export her product because Israelis control all the ports and they won't let her export. She also can't even drive to another town to do work / hire people because the Israelis control all the checkpoints.
Everyone who might oppose Israel watched recently as Britain's Labor Party was forced by nonsense anti-Semitism accusations to replace its Socialist leader Corbyn with the conservative Starmer. The equivalent in the U.S. would be that if Bernie had beaten Hillary, he'd have to endure the same B.S. So threads like this don't take off. The world is intimidated.
You didn't understand it? This is new to you? Criticism of Israel is muted because the critic will be accused of criticizing Jews, not Israeli policy. Anyone can silence criticism of Israel by conflating current Israeli policy into the Jewish religion as a whole. Obviously the two are not the same thing, but it's easy for propaganda to pretend that they are, to confuse the issue of Israeli policy. Did I restate it enough ways for you? Now it's your move to figure out how to accuse me of anti-Semitism, to silence criticism of Israel.
Not at all man. Im in my trailer at Maryhill State Park and just had a few chewables. I do know that there is a huge diff between then Jewish religion and the Israel’s politics.
You didn't follow the takedown in the U.K.? Or should I say shakedown. It would be a shock if this thread became as proficient as the anti-police killing threads. Those have impressed me that some people here have the courage to speak.
No, I didn't follow your post. Writing is re-writing. It's OK that something you wrote wasn't clear, at least to me and @Hoopguru t wasn't. But don't worry, we won't hold it against you! I try and save my bluster for when I am really off-base and want to change the subject.
What the heck are you talking about? By the way, im against killing police. I have some brothers that are exemplary cops. I also have friends that are jewish and muslim. Its great and ok for accepting people for who they are.
I made this thread because this is simply oppression at it's finest. The Palestinian people seem to literally have no rights of their own. While I am not trying to side with anyone here. Any civilized society that acts in this manner towards another group of people, probably isn't as humane as they would like to believe themselves to be. Nor is anyone who can support these acts that are being perpetrated by Israel.
