i just saw this when the guy said it in firday's nba tv daily and he said the celtics sent gerald green to the d-league!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Boston Celtics first-round draft pick Gerald Green will be sent to the NBA's developmental league, head of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Friday. Green, the 18th overall pick in the June draft out of Houston's Gulf Shores Academy, will be assigned to the Fayetteville (N.C.) Patriots. Green, a 6-foot-8 swingman, averaged eight points for Boston's summer league team but has yet to appear in a regular-season game. "I'm so anxious to play," Green said. "I've been working hard. It's time for me to test what I've learned." Green will be sent to Fayetteville on Monday and will play his first game with the Patriots on Jan. 15, Ainge said. "Gerald is still a major, major priority for us on the developmental side," Ainge said. "We plan on bringing him back this season."</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...n_down_to_nbdl/
oh, they plan to bring him back THIS season, i thought it was for like the whole season green would play in the nbdl
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Gerald Green was never too excited about the idea of going down to the NBDL, but the splinters caught up with him. “I never want to go to the NBDL, but I never want to just sit either,” the rookie said back on opening night. “It’s kind of tough for me because I’ve never sat before.” Last night, after dressing for just one Celtics game this season (and not playing), the team’s top draft pick last June was “excited” to learn the team has decided to send him to the Developmental League. “I’m so anxious to play,” said the 19-year-old shooting guard.“I’ve been working hard. I’ve gotten a lot stronger. “I’m glad I stuck with the team as long as I did and learned as much as I can. Now it’s time for me to test out what I’ve learned and what kind of player I can become. I think honestly I can learn a little more by actually playing instead of just sitting around and looking at game tape.” Green will actually be going to the Fayetteville (N.C.) Patriots, instead of the Florida Flame, the Celts’ assigned NBDL affiliate. “We just talked it over with the NBA, and in Florida there’s just a logjam right now, especially at the shooting guard position,” said Danny Ainge, who will accompany Green on Monday and for the first four or five days. “We feel like the best opportunity for Gerald to go down and get an opportunity to play minutes right now would be at Fayetteville. It was actually (the NBA’s) idea initially. “Bracey Wright’s averaging 40 minutes a game and 27 points (for Florida). And Dorrell Wright was sent down there and he’s played a game or two. They’re both shooting guards. Fayetteville could use a guy like Gerald. We want him to play. That’s the whole point of it.” </div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting superman32:</div><div class="quote_post">gerald green is way to good for that ****</div> Yeah, you can tell by his stats.
Man, I thought Green would be a contributor even in his rookie season. Sine he was projected a top pick in last years draft.
He must really love Boston. Although his value is low right now he's good enough to be included in a trade with LaFrentz or something. I'm surprised he didn't just complain to his agent and ask to be dealt.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting superman32:</div><div class="quote_post">gerald green is way to good for that ****</div> Yeah, real good. He's a 19 year old rookie, he isn't helping the Celtics. Let him develop his game in the D league.
He is going to wreck in the DL. They know he is going to do really well, but I don't get why they don't play him.
i think they are trying to show him he can belong and let him kinda shoot the lights out an dominate games and continue to build confidence in his game while the celtics TRY to win games but he will comeback up once they think he can contribute
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting superman32:</div><div class="quote_post">gerald green is way to good for that ****</div> And you're basing that on what, exactly?
It'll be interesting to see how he does in the D-Leauge because he hasn't really played with the Celtics.
With Green down in the D-League he will have lots of playing time and he will work on his game and hopefully pick up some new skills.
Its a great move for Gerald...i hope he does well enough to get a chance to get some playing time for the C's after the allstar break...
i cant believe they assinged him to the D-League. His defenitly the steal of the draft and should b gettin valuble exp playin in the big time.
um.....why? OH HORRIBLE! MOST HORRIBLE! the celtics have sent their MVP gerald green down to the NBDL!! how will the celtics ever win without geralds value presence on (and not off) the bench! has he played a single minute this year>?
