this would defeat the purpose of the Jefferson trade. The Nets are trying to save money, Simmons is here just to come off the books.

Also the Cats could get Williams alot cheaper via Morrison and something else.

It would signal that the Nets are not interested in Lebron.

Wallace will make $9.9 million in 2010-11, $10.6 million in 2011-12 and has a player option for $11.4 million in 2012-13...and he plays the same position as James.

Makes NO sense for the Nets. None.

    Gerald Wallace is really overrated.

He was a nice player to have on his old contract.

wouldn't we have to do a sign and trade for LeBron anyway? Wallace could be the guy we move in that, and would be good insurance if we can't get him.

I personally think a guy like Wallace would be the ideal forward next to Yi, someone like him, Marion, Josh Smith or AK47, a combo forward who can defend either spot well.

I'd do this. Although I wish we could have DJ Augustine too. Hey if Charlotte asks for Sean I'll gladly add him for Augustine. Anyway Wallace is not overrated infact he is underrated watch him play he is a ball stopper as good a defender as you can find in the NBA, his wingspan and defensive IQ one of the best in the game.

    Trade proposal

I'd also think of this since we need a bench that can actually score and Hassel can be a Larry Brown type guy.

    Trade proposal #2

The Nets are trying to get WAY under the cap by 2010 so they don't have to do a sign-and-trade. That's one of the reasons they traded Jefferson.

Why in God's--or Rod's--name would the Nets invest more than $45 million over five years, including this one, in a guy who plays the same position as the guy they want to sign in two years. Again, it makes NO sense...NONE.

And if you dont want Lebron or he stays in Cleveland, there are other players in that free agent class.

Gerald Wallace is not Marion, not Smith, not AK-47. He is not a combo forward.

You can't get any lower we are at 23 million by that summer as it is add an extension for Devin that's probably 30 -32 million by 10'/11'.

Ok, I'd thought that I had heard that we would have to do a sign and trade, although that could have been before the RJ trade. With Devin, Yi, Boone, SWat, Brook, Anderson, CDR, Najera, Dooling and our future picks, we would still have to move Vince before being able to offer a max contract, though, right?

Well, I thought the reason we could get LeBron was because of Jay-Z and Brooklyn. With Brooklyn looking like it will be delayed past when he's a free agent, it seems like there would be a much smaller possibility for signing him.

Wade and big men are the other options, none play SF. Bosh and Amare seem unlikely unless we give up on Brook or Yi by then, so it seems like it would be Wade. We'd probably move Vince if we got Wade, so that would give us more cap space than not having Wallace would.

He is similar to them. A plus defender who can guard either forward spot, and he may not play inside much, but neither do the other guys. He can't really play PF full time like the others, but he is more effective there than most SFs.
