In what can only be described as a relief for Gooners, Arsenal winger Gervinho has been sold to Roma for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be £8,000,000. Gervinho's tenure at the grove started well enough but after returning from the African Cup of Nations his confidence was left behind. What followed was two seasons of shocking misses and inconsistent play that caused Gooners to turn on the Ivorian national. Gervinho's departure is the 21st this summer including the likes of Andrey Arshavin and Andre Santos. Arsenal have also seen-off five players on loan. Three more players could still be unloaded--Ju Young Park, Nicklas Bendtner, and Marouane Chamakh. Arsenal have thus far added only one player, French striker Yaya Sanogo. Although the squad isn't desperate for signings it's hard to envision any serious title run this season without them. Arsenal are in need of a creative midfielder and a defensive stalwart but seem to have focused mainly on strikers this summer, failing to sign Stevan Jovetic, Gonzalo Higuain, and Luis Suarez.
