The draft order was released today. Miami drafts 20th. The teams ahead of the Dolphins that might go QB. Arizona, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, & New Orleans. Arizona is the most serious IMO. I've heard that the Saints aren't sure Brooks is the real deal.

It may be necessary >tender< Ogunleye in order to acquire Rothliesberger or Rivers.

there will be some FA qbs, warner, couch, feely, manning(i thought next year, but i read in a post at the RZ that hes this year) brees.

thats not really cream of the crop, but its not bad untill you get a good WR, to work with him.

chambers is a great #2 IMHO, but not a1

why trade one of the best young DEs in the league?

"why trade one of the best young DEs in the league?"

the reason they will let Ogunleye walk is because his agent wants $7 mil+ a year deal and the dolphins cant fit that into thier cap....they wont trade him, but they will offer him a one year tender of $1.94mil, which entitles them to match any offer he signs as a free agent or receive a 1st and 3rd in compensation, at that price, Im expecting a lot of teams to come calling, hes 26 and he had 15 sacks this year and 25 in the last 2 years, plus he plays LE which is not the normal rush end position, if they can get that compensation for him, they should let him walk and use that money elsewhere

Dawk, I would have to disagree with you about Chris Chambers. I think he can be a gamebreaking number 1 WR if he has a QB who can get him the ball. Everyone is down on the Dolphin WRs but I think it's Fiedler, who's the problem. I think Chambers, Gadsden and McMichael are excellent players.

Beef, I agree with what your saying, but I just don't like it. I don't want to lose Ogunleye. I'm sure Tom Brady, Drew Bledsoe and Chad Pennington wouldn't mind seeing Ogunleye somewhere else though. It's bad enough having Jason Taylor coming from your blind side.

The answer to the Dolphins QB question might be Kyle Orton @ Purdue. He is a junior. I have not heard if he'll declare.

Yes, Purdue does a run a 'spread' pffense but unlike other Spread QB's he is big 6'3" 225, can throw a good deep ball, make good decisions, and has some mobility.

Somehow, I don't think Miami will draft a QB. The impression I get after doing a little research & reading is that Miami brass thinks that will send a meesage that the franchise is in a "rebuilding" mode.

Hopefully, the new GM will shake things up. I can't think of anything worse than the pattern Miami is in now & the direction they are heading.

Maybe drafting a young QB will light a fire under those ahead of him on the depth chart??

For example, Look how well Kitna did this year. FWIW, I thought that Palmer would be thrown into the fire by mid Oct.

I read every Dolphin story I can find everyday....at this time, I get the feeling Randy Mueller is the GM by next week....Mueller is known as a wheeler and dealer who is always looking to improve the roster from the top player to the 53rd....I believe Mueller will sign or trade for Brunnell, Warner, or Kitna, and then go get a WR like Terrell Owens(I hope not, but its Muellers m.o......I think they will cut Fiedler and Griese and go hard after a Championship in the next 2 years....I guess as a fan, you cant ask for anything more than an effort to win it all....they other way to go would be to trade players with good value(Jason Taylor and Ogunleye, Surtain, maybe Madison and start over with a QB...I dont think they will go that way, but if they do, Ogunleye and Taylor would fetch 1st rounders and Surtain might also, not sure what they could get for Madison....of course the salary cap may proclude them from going this route)

or you could draft a QB in the later rounds. for every donavon mcnabb, peyton manning, there is a ryan leaf and a akili smith. even a tim couch.

if i was the GM iddraft a qb later in the draft like what tampa and frisco did, draft some1 and try to make the the future, if it doesnt pan out then o-well it wasnt a big risk. jason white (if he declared), bj symons and maybe j.p lawson will be there for your pick in round 2, or you could trade up in round 3 o get them. take a chance with them, see what they can do and make a decision on if they are good enough to play in the NFL

Getting a Franchise QB late in a draft(3rd on) can really jump start a franchise....In some cases it can put you over the top(ask the Pats)....but its hard to do because a QB must have major flaws to drop that far, and you must see the diamond in the rough and be the team that picks them...then you need the coaches to mold him....for every Tom Brady(6th round) and Aaron Brooks(4th round), theres 100 Josh Heuples(6th round)...My theory is that teams should spend a late pick on a QB anytime they think they see potential and then pray to God that it pays off...its like buying a lottery ticket, most of the time you lose, but what if win just once????

I have to say guys i think the phins have to change offensive cordinaters. I think chris chambers isnt getting the ball as nearly
as much as he could. This kid has all the talents of randy moss
with his leaping ability and athelism. I think if miami rids norv
and gets someone who will requiere the phins to pass more
chambers is top 4 wr in the nfl.

Also if miami is to draft a qb which wouldnt be bad i think the most
underated of the 3 in the first round is phillip rivers. The man imo is
the best qb out of the three. Rivers very well could fall to miami.

Assuming buffalo takes winslow jr and pitt goes rb.

    Etrain;

    Aren't you forgrtting someone?

When I follow the 'phins online, It seems he is involved in many incomplete passes. Alot of the fault is Jay's but Chambers does share some blame.

I don't think Norv is the problem. I read somewhere that vanilla Dave overrode Norv's call several times & kept Miami from opening it up.

I will die of happiness & shock if Rivers is available and Miami drafts him. IMO, the Steelers should go for a shutdown corner i.e. Vasher of Texas or Hall of Va Tech. Buffalo could use some help on the O line and may go CB if Winfield leaves via FA. It wouldn't surprise me if they try to get someone to complement Moulds.

Norv Turner was given orders to be conservative at times during the season, and the story goes that whenever he would start to open up the offense a bit, Wanny would pull back on the reins....I think the biggest factor handicapping Turner is Fiedler at QB....if they had a better passer, I dont believe Wanny would insist on being so "Vanilla"....give Turner a Mark Brunell and I think you will see a much more dynamic attack....there are 4 QBs that may be available in different ways this offseason and all 4 are an upgrade to Fiedler....they are Brunell, Kurt Warner, Jeff Garcia, and Jin Kitna....any of them would help...

Well just watching one week chambers score 3 tds in a game then
the next week he has 2 catches for 20 yds is an example. Fiedler
isnt the best passing qb in the nfl, but really how do you know til
he throws alot. This year we all seen williams carry that ball to much
and it really showed in his play. Running a back in the nfl over 35 times a game, really does take miles off the rb carrer.

I think all them qbs you mentioned are really good fits for miami
all but one. Kurt warner i know he has superbowl mvp and what not
but the simple fact is. Warner isnt accurate like he was years ago
and he really cannont throw a spiral. Its what scouts have always said
of him. Warner didnt make the nfl for a reason, people forget. Yes
his story was great in stlouis but the reality is. He is a backup qb in the nfl. You dont bag grocerys for being a top notch qb, that the nfl forgot of for nothing there was a reason.

Im afraid warner would be another scott mitchell story in miami.
You guys also forgot drew bledsoe will be free [IMG]

hahahah Bledsoe. hahahahah I would love him to finish his career in the AFC east. The guy is miserable. He has not progressed at all over the last three years as a QB.

Hell, why doesn't Miami go out and sign fellow statue Rob Johnson while their at it? I like Bledsoe but the thought of Miami having to play & frustrate him twice a year does give me some reason to smile.

I am sure the jets could use a QB. Pennington when healthy is a dynamo but when he's not Chad, Vinny, & Bollinger barely make up a whole QB.

to funny BA I couldn't help but laugh when I saw Frankenstein mentioned. I couldn't resist a little bledsoe bashing. though he was a class act when he left unlike milloy. Now that guy left like and ass act. His situation was different but there was no need to go bashing the organization because his ego wouldn't take a 600,000 pay cut to help the team.
