<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEVELAND - Cavaliers coach Mike Brown's decision to insert Daniel Gibson into the starting lineup at point guard ahead of Eric Snow on Tuesday was more of a doctrinal shift than an experiment. No matter the short-term results, Gibson will remain as the starter for the foreseeable future. It was a switch Brown has been considering for quite some time and not one that was entered into without discussion and thought about the consequences. ``I'm a guy that is pretty patient with what I do. I really think things through and give things a chance,'' Brown said. ``It wouldn't be fair for me to throw Boobie out there for a game or two, because he's going to have some bad games, he's a rookie. I'm going to give him time.'' Some would say Brown waited too long to consider using Gibson in the role, even as the Cavs struggled offensively -- especially on the fast break with Snow for much of the season. Brown said the change was being made now to jump-start the team, which had lost seven of 10 games heading into the week. ``I felt it was time to shake it up a little bit and give the team a little different look,'' Brown said. Gibson has been ``preparing himself extremely well, and defensively he's been really good when he's had opportunity.'' Since his college days at Texas, Gibson has been questioned about his point-guard skills. Sometimes a shoot-first guard, he has constantly had to deal with criticism that he doesn't own the traits to be a classic NBA point guard. Earlier this season, Brown started Gibson at shooting guard and most of his minutes have come in that role. ``This is something I've been working toward. This is something I feel I am capable of doing,'' Gibson said. ``There are areas I know I can improve in; I have the opportunity now and it is something I'm planning on taking advantage of.'' Brown said Snow will have the same role for the time being, probably with a slight reduction in minutes. ``Eric's leadership and presence has been good for us, and we're going to continue to need him,'' Brown said. ``I don't see his role changing much. He's a guy that steadies the team and is a good defender and he can do those things coming off the bench.''</div> Source
