<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't know what it is about January, but there is something special about this month. Last year we saw Kobe Bryant average 43.4 points including an 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors. This year it's Agent Zero's turn to have an amazing January. Although he's not scoring quite as many as Bryant was last year, he has managed to put up 51 points against the Jazz including the game winner shown here. Certainly shy of 81 points, but an amazing feat when compared to most NBA players who have played the Jazz.

For some reason, Gilbert seems to be on a rampage and, quite frankly, I'm just glad he's not in the same conference as my beloved Lakers. It's not so much that I'm scared the Lakers can't beat them (although they certainly can), it's more that I don't want Kobe to try and compete with Arenas in a scoring contest.

While it's true that Gilbert seems to be last year's Kobe, Kobe seems to be this year's Kobe and the last thing I want is for Bryant to try and show the world that he can still score like he did last season.

Sure, I like it when Kobe scores 51 points, but honestly, I like it more when the Lakers win. And that's why I like this video so much, because it shows some other team relying on a 51 point game from their star in order to get a win over the Jazz.

Arenas does remind me of Kobe from last season. The guy just has been a scoring machine. It's great to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves

Arenas is having a phenomenal season. In the Wizards wins, he's averaging like 35 PPG, but in their losses he's only getting 21 PPG. That just shows that the team lives and dies with him. I think playing in the east the Wizards could contend for the SE title. If that's the case, I think Arenas could have a strong case for MVP.

The Wizards are tied for first in the East, with a 1.5 game lead over Orlando.

if arenas gets MVP, while last season kobe didnt get MVP, even when kobe played a better season, something is terribly wrong with the people who decide the mvp

don't worry Gilbert Arenas no way in hell will get MVP this season. The ONLY way he would get it is if he scores 90 points or if the Wizards win every game on the remaining schedule and go on a 30-game win streak.

Actually no, division ranking and wins have a lot to do with MVP. Even if the Wizards don't win more games than the Western teams, if they're #1 in the East with about 49-50+ wins, his MVP status will rise DRAMATICALLY. The whole being first in your conference while putting up big numbers and winning games is the big thing.

People will compare to Kobe last year, but Kobe did not win his conference, while Arenas can. Kobe's team did not win 50+ games, while the Wizards are currently capable and about on pace for that. So while the Wizards might not destroy the Lakers 45 wins from last season, and Arenas won't surpass Kobe's 35 PPG, those things I mentioned make quite a difference.
