Wow, this is a great article - For Arenas, the Ultimate Assist <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Andre McAllister was aware of Gilbert Arenas's giving spirit before Arenas decided to become his "big brother" yesterday. Andre, 10, has seen Arenas toss his jersey -- and often his sneakers -- into the stands after every Washington Wizards game</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Andre and his cousin, Andre Townsend, 10, got to hang out with Arenas and the Wizards the entire day. Earlier at practice, Andre McAllister told forward Jarvis Hayes that his twin sister, Aisha, had a bookmark with Hayes's picture on it. "My sister thinks you're the cutest one on the team," Andre McAllister said. Hayes, who was unaware of the situation, smiled and said, "You go home and tell your sister she's all right." "She's dead," said McAllister, the only family member to escape the house alive. The expression on Hayes's face turned from delight to distress.</div> This is a real sad story about the kids family, Gil really impressed me on this one...
Gilbert has to be one of the most mature players I have seen in these situations. He is always giving back, I believe he has a basketball camp and has a couple of charity games. That story is just heart wrenching, and I gain so much respect for Gilbert after reading this, I hope players like Artest and other players with attitude can just take a moment and realize they have a special talent and everything they want, and just don't take it for granted because it can all be taken easily one day. My fav. quote in the whole article: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"As a professional athlete, you're always receiving. We're grateful and there are a lot of people out there who are not as fortunate to have what we have, you might as well give back."</div> He is really mature for his age, he turns 23 in about two weeks, he is the true leader of the Wizards. Good job Gilly.
