Gina Carano isn't going to want to have a rematch with Christiane Santos any time soon if she is serious about her acting career. Carano had her face mashed by Santos in August for the inaugural Strikeforce Women's Middleweight (145-lbs) Championship. She is now reportedly cast as the lead in director Steven Soderbergh's (Che, Traffic) newly announced project, Knockout. Carano has appeared as "Crush" on the second iteration of American Gladiators (canceled), as well as having a bit part in Blood and Bone and a small role in the video game Command & Conquer. Variety claims the film is a spy thriller slated to begin filming in late January. Carano would be cast as "a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who is given a second chance to use her skills for constructive purposes". I suppose that means she'll be a female Xander Cage. Soderbergh made headlines by casting hardcore porn starlet Sasha Grey in his last film, The Girlfriend Experience, and seems intent on making stunt casting his new bag. The film would likely postpone Carano's fighting career until mid-2010.
