"I would love to stay in San Antonio, that would be ideal," Ginobili said Tuesday. "The only thing that might woo me away is a considerably higher offer or a longer contract."

The Spurs have suggested they will match any reasonable offer. Since Ginobili is currently under contract with San Antonio, the team has the option of offering him a deal up to seven years</div>

Ginobili is a Top 10 FA this year, so that means that they are plenty of teams out there that will go after him. The Spurs better agree to his demands, if they know whats good for them.

The Spurs should offer him a long term contract, he's very deserving of one. He is an important part of the team, who can do a lot of things well. He plays well around Duncan and Parker, and it will not be easy for the Spurs to find a suitable replacement for what he does if they let him go elsewhere.

Manu deserves a long contract. I've loved this kid ever since I saw him and his team (Argentina) spank Team USA in the World Tourney. I don't see Manu becoming a superstar in his career but I see him being an integral role player for whatever team he's on. If I was the Spurs I would NOT let him go.

Yo, totally agreeing with you. Although i hate the spurs, id want them to offer him one, so that he can stay where he belongs to.

Manu doesn't deserve over 6 Million annually in his upcoming contract. Teams might find themselves in a bidding war, resulting in the winner overpaying him (Manu).

So you're saying that Damon Stoudamire (15 mil), Anfernee Hardaway (14.6 mil), Keith Van Horn (14.4 mil), Eddie Jones (13.4 mil), Kerry Kittles (10 mil), and Jalen Rose (14.4 mil) are twice as good as Manu? Get Real!

People make a big deal about the fact that Manu didn't start, but the truth is that he and no one else on the Spurs team could come in and change the game for the Spurs in the 2003 season. Not only that, but he was playing about the same or more minutes than some starters were.

How many players can change the game on both sides of the court? Listen, both sides of the da_n court! Not any one of these other guys could do that.

too true. Manu is worth alot, and i always thought people underestimated him. ok he makes lots of turnovers sometimes but normally when he gets on, the spurs get their game going, they have the ambition to win, more spirit then without him.

That's called twisting someone words. I could mention that Stoudamire and all them don't deserve that kind of money, but I made my statement clear, that Manu doesn't deserve over 6 Million. You're just throwing out numbers. If somone makes 3 Million a year that's not alot right? Wrong. The Cavs pay Kevin Ollie 3 Million a year to "mentor" LeBron James at the point. On top of that, the contract runs through 2008-2009, and they're already trying to dumb it. Ollie isn't worth 3 Million, just like how Manu isn't worth over 6 Milion.

JYD is getting paid around 6 Million annually but isn't worth. He doesn't play team D, he gets you scrappy boards by playing out of the Team's offense/defense, and gets you around 8 points from a couple of tip ins, and fast break layups. Teams can get a guy like this for 2 Million in this market, some names: Keon Clark (Plays Team D), Chris Anderson (From DLeague), Jake Voskul and more.

The point is Manu isn't worth 6 Million a year. What's he going to do for you, 13 Points, 4 Assists, 1.8 stls, 2 TO's and give you hustle on D? He's not a good one on one defender.

Statistics don't tell the story my friend. Ginobili is one of the most efficient players in the league. Also, keep in mind that he's only in his early 20's and has loads of potential still to be fulfilled. Without Ginobili and Turkoglu next year, the Spurs won't be able to do nearly as well as they did this year. While the two foreigners aren't two of the best players in the league, they fit into the Spurs' system very well, and it would be a shame to see them leave the team. I think San Antonio should do what they did last year; go for the players that would fit into their system well and do the little things to help them win instead of going for the big name free agent like Martin, Bryant, or Maggette.

What are you smoking B A N K S 3? How can you say Manu is not worth 6 million? You are just a hater. You remind me of all the people that would ask why Deon Sanders and Charles Haley were being paid so much when they don't even have that many sacks and INT's. They were not looking at the facts. Haley needed two to three players on him at all times. Not only that he had more QB pressure than his whole defense. Then I was told about how Deon has three INT's, and I would say "Let's go outside and I will play you one on one and if you don't catch any ball then I have done my job. I don't need lots of INT's."

That's what you call a playmaker, and that's what Manu is; <font color="Red"><strike>not like your cry-baby Vince Carter always crying that he doesn't like this and that. When does he play defense? Oh uhhhh, let me see, ohhh... he can jump... I forgot. That's why you like him - because he can jump. What has he done? Nothing.</strike></font> But when you have someone that can change the game like Manu on both sides of the court, you can't look at the stats and say "His stat's don't look good." Manu is a warrior just like Kobe and MJ.

Actually you're being very biased as well OIP, you're a huge Manu fan so it's only natural you're so supportive and defensive of him. However I agree with a lot of your points, but some of the people you compared him with were wrong. I won't go into that though, I'm not really one to argue.

However in comparison to those people, he provides something a lot of them lack, effort and hustle. His speed and quickness on D is both entertaining and hella useful, one of my favorite stealers. He gives you his all no matter what, and that all is good, hence my admiration for him. Sure he deserves a lot, but doesn't everyone else too? He accepted the role, is used and needed, he either gets it or he doesn't. Point is, they need him. He's a huge fan attraction as well as a huge part of what defines the Spurs.

You people are acting like babies. I'm not baseing everything on stats. I've taken into account Hustle, energy and all that. You don't know a thing about me so stating things like I like Vince Carter can he can jump. It shows how immature you kids are. Being the 16th all time scoring leader of all time is all because he can jump and do nothing else. Brining his team to 2nd round of the playoffs with no other 2nd in options on his team is all because he can jump. You're just going by stereotypes. I don't have to state anything else to you to convince you that Manu doesn't worth over 6 million, because obviously you kids will take it personally and start throwing stereotypes of my fav. players at me to defend yourselves and make yourselves feel better.

I would just like to point out that there are seven other posters in here who aren't being immature about it. Don't let one bad apple ruin the bunch, because I doubt anyone other than OneInPower will bring Vince Carter into this discussion about Emmanuel Ginobili.

Anyway, my main point, banks, was that Emmanuel Ginobili might not be worth more than six million dollars to twenty-nine of the thirty teams in the league. However, to the San Antonio Spurs he's definitely worth more than that, because he's pretty much essential to them winning games; not to mention that he's one of the youngest free agents on the market and has a lot of potential still unfulfilled. To a lesser extent, you could almost say the same thing about being essential to winning about Hedo Turkoglu who looks like he may be signing with the Hawks. Ginobili and Turkoglu are clutch shooters. I didn't respect them as much as I do now until they played the Memphis Grizzlies in the playoffs this year. I got to see first hand how dominant the Spurs could be. They beat us with Duncan the whole game, and the towards the end Manu and Hedo would come out and absolutely kill us with their outside shooting.

Manu is certainly worth around 6 million a year considering what he brings game in, game out but the rumours of a possible deal srarting at 9 mill? eh not worth it to me. Certainly when you consider Tony Parker needs to get a new contract next summer

Hedo Turkoglu is the most hated man in San Antonio right now so he will be likely gone and in comes Stephen Jackson. Manu has always been better as a spark off the bench even at 6 million a year.

The best ive heard in this thread. True, duncan and parker are the leaders of the team, but without manu and turkoglu, the spurs wouldnt have gotten close to what they achieved this year. They fit in brilliantly, i couldnt imagine them anywhere else playing a better role. They may be able to find better players, that could fit into the system also, but right now, i dont really see anyone that could do the job as good as manu.
