Never saw Girardi so pissed, he was lit like frag going off. The man more than stood up for his player.

I'm sure even our resident Girardi hater PASTA would give props to him for the way he stood up for his player & the team.

I'm going to go against the grain here a bit and say that while I guess I don't take offense at Giradi's response I did find it over the top. Yes, defend your player but that's the most passionate I've ever seen him and he chooses to make ARod the reason for that? Didn't think it called for all that, its baseball, and I personally couldn't stomach doing what he did if I was him in defending ARod. There are far, far better causes to care about than Alex getting plunked in a baseball game. Really ridiculous reaction the more I think about it.

I think Girardi also became enraged because of the warning to the Yankees. Girardi mentioned be was on the top step and upset after the first pitch that went behind Arod. The umpire came out from behind home plate after Arod was hit and started violently pointing at everyone and giving warnings. What did the Yankees do besides send somebody up the plate to hit? It just further showed by Dempster should've been tossed and then you can make all the warnings you want to avoid a bean ball war.

That HP umpire should be suspended. He allowed Dempster not 1, but 2 shots at Arod before he figured out what was going on. And while agree with cy to an extent - I also think Girardi knew how convenient the situation was for the Dempster and the umpire to conspire and let them take 2 shots at drilling Arod before issuing the warning.

I'm glad Dempster did not get tossed after those 2 obvious attempts to hit him, because Dempster is a bum and him staying in the game lead the Yankees to victory. But a real umpire would have figured it out after the 1st pitch, and stopped it then. I think that is what irked Girardi.

who the fook said i hate girardi? he's a soft coach, he's too concerned about being liked, i like a hard nosed coach, one who knows the talent you got and will beat it out of u if he had too, thats what i grew up with! as far as girardi goes, arod incident, ... i am with him to a point, but i find his disposition overly dramatic.

    that was a GREAT game
