Thought he handled it pretty well. Said he's looking forward to assembling his team, knows that this years group per the "experts" is rated lower than usual. Also reminded people that upon his first arrival back in '96 that the Yankees are simply a different scenario. I still say the right man for the job I just hope that Lady Luck tips her hand toward this team.
...luck?...they're gonna need it, a lot of it. ...but yeah, I'd expect Joe to say positive things...as all coaches do this time of year.
Luck, tossing salt over my shoulders, while negotiating with some headshrinkers in the Congo...... all for a voodo chile curse for all Pitchers who come to the Bronx to Play, excluding our Yanx of course.. This one is gonna' cost me, hmmm, how about trading a video camera that doesn't work, for that Spell.....? No? Ok, then how about a case of Cheetos, and Big League Chew......
I like Girardi a lot, hope the lack of HOFers allows him to coach a little more freely. I'd say this team needs health more than luck, but maybe those are one in the same in this case. A scenario where they win this division, which is not as strong as in years past, is not that impossible to envision.
...Hey man, like I've said many times, I really hope this team does well...I hope for that every year at this time. And though I've always been a bit of a homer, I just don't see it this year...and I'm ticked off about not only Cashman being the creator of this roster, but also that he was actually rewarded for doing so while others were made to be scapegoats.
Homer Jr here. And agree, this just isn't the year....and that's not my DJ hangover. Cashman had a terrible off season, no rationale for the moves made and moves failed to be made. As for the reward, taking a long view, he's likely to never get another job after this year. Scapegoats might be a bit strong, but I can't fault that interpretation either. OK...I think were back in sync. Play ball.
...as far as the moves, I liked what I saw from Headley last year. But as good as Chase was with the Yanx, Prado was even better...and he's more versatile and a better recent health record and a more friendly contract...all thing considered, if Cash was gonna sign Drew anyway I'd rather have kept Greene and Prado and passed on Gregorius and Headley.
Yep, I was not happy with the Prado move. Mar-tan was a nice acquisitive, that didn't cost a small fortune. I foresaw deals like Prado's as a slow but on track course for the future......I'd of also liked to of seen Greene stay. Headley is going to have to play like hell to impress me..........while all Drew has to do, is play a sound defense, and hit the ball at least once every 100 at bats......! Tho' if Drew could hit not a thousandth of a point under .280, that might make my day......might....!
With Cashman still at the helm & the Stiener stooges running the show I've got a feeling Girardi will be wearing # 28 for a while.
I will admit though I watched the presentation I didn't "get it" until Rosenthal came back and explained. And my position has not altered, I feel that some deals were not well made, and there are too many ifs. I do respect Girardi and the job he's done but still think he'll get better support from a cup than what Cashaman and the Katzenjammer Kids will give. Be nice to see some miracles but doubtful they will happen in this 60th season of being a fan.
