LMA had excellent numbers tonite. 10-13 for 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 TOs 10-13? Yet not much said. It's just expected of him so he's taken for granted a lot.
I love how Lamarcus game has progressed. It is much different when you go into every game expecting 2 players to score over 20 every night, instead of just one. The only times of the game where Lamarcus was not scoring, is when they weren't doing a good job of getting him the ball. It seems like sometimes they forget to do that.
LaMarcus had a great second half. I think he hit his first two shots of the game, and then didn't score for the rest of the first half. But he was a real force against San Antonio's old role-playing big men. He played like an All-Star.
The ESPN guys were on LaMarcus's jock for the whole game, but still treated him like "Who is THIS guy??". It's frustrating, Aldridge can take over the game for an entire quarter, but when the game's over, it's all about Brandon, Travis, Joel, etc. LaMarcus has maybe the highest ceiling of anyone on the team except Oden. I think that he'll eventually be more valuable to the team than Brandon. But it's funny to hear the National guys raving about him, and then at the same time ignoring his contributions.
I would love to see LMA bring this sort of game right off the bat next year as well. It would do wonders for our record (60 next year?) and it would definitely get him some strong consideration for the all-star game. He's been the man since February and I look forward to him producing in the playoffs.
if he plays like this next season(probably better with a summer of improvement), he will make the all star game.
Indeed. It's not just the 19/9 average for the past couple of months, it's the fact that he plays both ends of the court. As he gets older, stronger and even more polished scoring from the block he could really be an unholy terror.
And Jon Barry knows superstars... enough of them breezed past him on their way to the hoop. "Oh geez, Dad!" "Sorry son, you kinda suck."
