My man DA just said that we should give Baker a look just to give James another option on the floor, plus some added scoring punch off the bench I would assume. What are your opinions on this?
I wouldn't mind seeing that. Baker would be a good fit for the Cavs. Who is the Cav's backup power forward anyway? I think he could fill that roll quite nicely.
Well Diop is supposed to backup Z, Battie is supposed to backup Boozer, problem is, they have been injured a lot. A 3rd body would be nice. I'll let others respond before I chime in.
I dunno man..think about it. With his history, say you sign him and he comes back next ya'll doin' great..got great chemistry..making an authentic playoff run and he's a huge part of the success. But then he falls of the wagon again and vanishes from the scene. That could possibly collapse the season. Talented..yes. Worth the trouble anymore? Not IMO.
I really don't see the Cavs even considering this guy. Even tho he is a great player, the Cavs just never seem to be the type to do a move like that.
I think Vin Baker's risk outweighs his reward possiblities. The Cavs are a young team right now that is already struggling to play together cohesively. I don't think they need a distraction like Vin. He's already shown that he can't keep his act together, so what would make us think he's a changed man? I also don't think that Vin would be very happy playing a back up role. Boozer has established himself as the man at PF and that is where we'd have to play Vin. If the Cavs are looking to sign a player, they need to make it an outisde shooter.
I wouldn't dare put Vin on a team with Booz Ideal, is all I have to say. A lesser role means that you benefit if he's there, and dont lose much if he decides to f-around with the bottle again. He could potentially be the missing link and contribute to a playoff birth.
The missing link isn't at power forward. The missing link is an outside shooter. Vin Baker isn't going to be a zone buster and thats what the Cavs need.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post">I wouldn't dare put Vin on a team with Booz </div> Vin seems more interested in drinking his sorrows away, unfortunately. If it weren't for his inability to put down the bottle, he's be a great addition, but had this been the case, he wouldn't be free for the taking.
Is he worth the trouble? Cleveland management has done a lot of work in shedding the team of problem-makers, Vin hasn't yet proven he can keep out of trouble. The talent is there though, and I would be surprised if the Lakers didn't take a keen interest in him. The Cavaliers though, who are building a young team surrounded by savvy vets and locker room guys? Considering PF isn't a problem area, I can't see it. KJ, your thoughts?
To me Vin Baker has no excuse. He was in great shape, the best since his Buck days, and playing great basketball to start the season. He let's his personal life get the best of him every time. I'm sorry Baker, I loved your game and was a major fan of yours, but I have to pass.
Yeah, as many of us, you passed Vin Baker. Don't know why, but I don't feel that Cavs team chemistry will be the same with him at the team! Don't think he would liked the thought that he had to be off the bench powerforward in Cavs, while he starts at Celtics!
It's very likely that the Knicks are going to sign Vin Baker. Go here for more information on that: http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14173
hmmm... sounds like Knicks are ready for the next season already, no need for many moves in that roster when the summer comes!
