I've given up. I'm positive that they'll never work out a deal. I'm sure the Satellite bean-counters have done the math and proven that not having CSNNW isn't costing them customers (since most are locked in by contracts anyway), and Comcast obviously isn't feeling the P.R. heat to lower their per-subscriber demands, since most non-CSNNW-receiving Blazer fans would just rather bitch and moan about the problem than do something about it.... which Comcast gleefully reminds them to just sign up with them, and their problem is solved. The Blazers organization, meanwhile, gets off scot free by throwing up their hands and saying they have no real say in the matter, which is a cop out in itself. None of the three sides, including the Blazers, really gives a crap about the fans who are locked out of the equation by the corporate bitch-fight. I really feel for the people who don't even have an option to buy a service that provides CSNNW.... they are the ones that are really getting screwed. But... the Blazers sold their soul to the Comcast Corporate overloads, and they are the ones truly to blame, in my opinion.
I'm in Monmouth. Comcast is not available, and the local carriers say that Comcast wants too much $$$ to carry the channel. It pisses me off. It was great having Comcast when I was living in Corvallis, but it sucks right now. Guess it's all online viewing for me.
I do have to say I laugh everytime that commercial comes on and Charter, which is owned by Paul Allen, is called out by Comcast for not signing on with them. It's embarrassing to the team and to the city, and the lack of a TV deal for everyone who pays for a service is one reason I can't too wrapped up in this team. If they don't want their fans to see the games, I really don't care about their bottom line.
Yeah I'm pretty disgusted as well (as my signature clearly indicates ) I live in an area that Comcast refuses to serve, so no CSN games for me. Somehow I find it funny that I can watch every NBA game of any team in the NBA (should I choose to purchase League Pass)....except for my hometown Blazers. Pathetic. I'm going to stop now before I type out essays on this bullshit (which is so, so, so easy for me to do).
Yeah, I hate those commercials and those full-page BS ads they put in the paper. Unfortunately I see no deal being made this season... I'm not sure about the precedent from the other CSN networks they have, but I thought I heard it took at least two, three years before they ever made a deal. It sucks because this seems like the only dark cloud hanging over the franchise.
Complain at MB's blog. I do often. It's the only way really to complain and be notice in any way by the Blazers and the public in general. At least those that read the blog. Doubt it'll change anything, but makes me feel a little better.
