Gladiators Rip Through Storm to Start Season 2-0

    The Cleveland Gladiators ripped through the Tampa Bay Storm, 66-26, to begin the season 2-0 in front of 7,939 fans at the St. Pete Times Forum on Sunday night. With the loss, the Storm fell to 1-3 on the season.

    Gladiators quarterback Kurt Rocco went 20-of-23 passing for 270 yards and six touchdowns in his first-ever start in the Arena Football League. Rocco also added a one-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter. Robert Redd led all receivers with 112 yards through the air on seven catches with two touchdowns. Troy Bergeron also caught three touchdown passes.

    The Storm went with two quarterbacks in the game, as Mike Potts was 16-of-30 for 139 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Gregory Grant came in during the second half to relieve Potts, going 7-for-11 for 68 yards and one touchdown.

    Cleveland scored 25 points to begin the game, scoring three touchdowns on their first eight offensive plays and building a lead that they would never lose.

    Gladiators linebacker Mike Bragg took an interception back 32 yards for a touchdown late in the second quarter. Defensive backs Joe Phinisee and Demarcus Robinson also made interceptions in the contest. Cleveland had no turnovers, while they forced four from Tampa Bay.
