For a second and third rounder. There you have it, the caps are deep as hell. I think they got a great shot to win the cup this year Sather fell sleep on that one too. Watch them acquire some pussy azz scrub. That's AV's style anyway, he loves his team full of pacifists.
We are talking about it in the DL thread. Comical. Sather just sits and watches all the teams in our division improve. Sad...very sad. The Caps weren't worried about picks in the 50's, 70's, and 90's to get Gleason and Glencross (two guys I would have loved here).
Glencross has a whopping 9 g and 18 a this year. No way I would have given up a second and third for him. He doesn't solve either problem this team has. One, a top faceoff guy. Two, a better defenseman on the third defense pairing. You don't give up those picks to upgrade a 4th line wing because it isn't necessary to give up those picks to get a 4th line player.
. He is a 3rd line player not a 4th line player. A legit 18-20 goal guy most seasons until this one where he was not happy in Calgary.
I went thru about 8 years of the draft one time. I calculated that about 20% of second round picks make the NHL. Of those, in those 8 years, I calculated about 11% were good NHL players. For me, I'd rather take the 11% chance of getting a good NHL player, under team control for about 5 to 8 years at a decent price before UFA than trade for a player who isn't a game breaker or doesn't solve a huge problem on the team. There is very little out there right now that is interesting.
You just proved the point we have been making. You think you proved your point, but I think you proved the point me, and Dis, and sc, and Prod have been making, 11% chance a 2nd rounder is a good player, and I bet a late 2nd rounder, which is what we are talking about, is even lower. And once you get into 3rd and 4th round picks we are mid single digits I bet. Just proved our point IMO.
