<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Waiting on the sidelines for a few minutes, Sergio Rodriguez looked as eager to enter the game as he did the night he was drafted. Picked 27th last summer by the Phoenix Suns, Sergio was well known to NBA's international scouts and, for those that did not get a chance to follow him through Spain's legendary ACB league, well represented with video clips posted on the net. But as he was about to enter the game a few nights ago in Dallas, it was a Portland Trail Blazers' uniform that was nervously being stretched and pulled. The cash that Blazers paid for Sergio was an investment based on his raise through ACB, Spain's premiere basketball league, in just two years. His game looks more like it was the NCAA that developed him: Rodriguez entered the game with six minutes left and in the spirit of exactly what coach McMillan expects of him, he focused on assists rather than on points. Spanish league Sergio came from is considered the most professional and best organized in all of Europe, but he always modeled his game after, as he calls it, the best league in the world, on the other side of the Atlantic. "I just switched to the NBA style. My style really depends on the league I am playing in. Last year in Spain I was doing what the coach wanted me to do, and here it is the same thing, I do what the coach wants me to do. My style is both NBA and Euro, depends what is needed. I have to change because its a different league, different players, different rules. It is more physical, almost everything is difficult. But I am a rookie so its hard, but I am young and am practicing and getting ready for the future. My biggest change is that I try to play safe. Coach doesn't want any mistakes. That is different than before, all my life I played fast and moved the ball quickly." </div> Source:http://www.hoopsworld.com/global/article_20356.shtml
