Not worth it. They need to build their current team up from continuing to play hard and learn from their own mistakes.
I don't think we'll trade for one.. probably just hope we get a good inside player during the draft. Or some of our guys develop into one.
KG isn't worth it. He's only got a few good years left in him and I don't want to see any of our great young talent leave for a rental that probably won't pay off anyways, simply because KG has shown that he alone cannot lead a team over the hump. He needs another superstar player, and we don't have one of those to compliment him. No thanks to KG.
I really think that if they gave Sweet a little more time, he really could develop into something good, even within this season. Brown can also handle himself down low, so I do think you guys need a superstar for a little inside scoring.
The issue with Sweets is he's overweight and not conditioned at all. Those are two things that Scott Skiles doesn't take kindly to, and Sweets is both of them. So, no matter how good he could be, it's purely his fault that he's not getting playing time by continually coming in overweight. If he were to shed some pounds and be able to run the court for more than 15 minutes a night, he might see some time, but until then, he's nothing but an expiring contract to Chicago. And personally, I'd rather see Tyrus get some PT over someone like Sweets.
I always liked Sweetney and still think he can make an impact. When he was with the Knicks I know he worked hard, but I haven't followed him much when he was with the Bulls. If he can get into better game shape, I'm sure he can make an impact. Other than Ben Wallace, he's probably the best rebounder on the team and has solid post moves, especially for a guy his size. He's also light on his feet, which is also a surprise. If Skiles gave him more playing time, I'm sure he will see some of the benefits of having him around. Sweetney thrives on confidence and playing sparingly is reducing this for him, IMO.

I wouldn't mind the Gasol trade, as he's still young and his best years are ahaed or him. However, I'm with M, I'd love to see how Tyrus Thomas develops. He's go the potential to be relaly good on both ends, especially the defensive side with his leaping ability, and we all know how much Skiles loves tough defensive guys.
I wonder what the Sports writers are going to do when Garnett retires and never goes to the Bulls. They will have nothing to do.

I think Eddy Curry was what the Bulls needed. Although they saved money by not having to spend large money on him, and got a very valuable draft pick, and the ability to swap picks with NY. They still could use someone who had an offensive impact like Curry did down low. I don't know how they are going to get a good big man, other than if NY does really bad this year.

With the way he's playing right now, I'd say he has another solid eight or nine years left in him. When you bring up Garnett, you're not just talking about a role player. You're talking about a franchise player, a guy who will change the entire chemistry of your team. I also won't accept the fact that he "cannot lead a team over the hump," because every situation is completely different. He's not selfish at all. Hell, the guy averages between five and six assists per game every year, and he's a hell of a defender and rebounder. The guy just hasn't been in the right situation before. Stockton, Malone, Barkley, Gervin, Maravich, Vandeweghe, Lanier, and tons of other greats never won a title. Are you telling me you wouldn't want them on the Bulls? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How about Gasol? Tyrus Thomas and PJ Brown for Pau Gasol?</div> Haha, good one. Yeah, I'm sure the Grizzlies are chomping at the bit to trade away their 7'0", 26-year old, PF/C, coming off of a 20 ppg, 9 rpg, 5 apg, 2 bpg, 50% FG season for a washed-up, near retired veteran and a mediocre, low-ceiling rookie with a bad attitude and a career high of 14 points? Yeah, makes sense. Let's do it. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I wouldn't really mind it, though another side of me would prefer to see how Thomas evolves as a player in the future.</div> Let me save you the suspense: he's a bust. He's a 6'8", skinny kid with a bad attitude and no real skills outside of his freak athleticism. He's a poor man's Stromile Swift. It's frightening how similar their games are. (HINT: That's not a good thing.) <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I wouldn't mind the Gasol trade, as he's still young and his best years are ahaed or him. Face it, Tyrus Thomas is not going to be anywhere near All-Star caliber in this league. He may be a servicable, defensive minded shotblocker in the future, but he's so underdeveloped on the offensive end that it's just a testimate to how shallow this past draft was. And I don't care if he does wind up being a more-than-servicable player. Do you realize how good Pau Gasol is at this point? He's got to have one of the ten highest trade values in the league. At 7'0" with his abilities and his passion for the game, you'd have to be crazy to give him up for anything less than another one of the top players in the league. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I am just really over it. Who knows, one day, in the best-case scenario, five years from now, if the stars align, Deng could develop and be like, um... Garnett. You know, it's funny. The Bulls are crying about not having any lowpost scoring, and yet they let go of Curry and passed up Aldridge in the draft.
Suspense? I'm interested in seeing how Gasol can perform in a different environment since the Grizzlies don't set up the type of plays that suit his ability. In Europe the man was a freak at playing basketball and I'm sure that given the right style of play he could perform at a much higher level. We've seen it with many other players before. No worries about the info for me bro, that's basically my life. A bit ashamed of that too, I should stop and concentrate on work more.

No worries about the info for me bro, that's basically my life. A bit ashamed of that too, I should stop and concentrate on work more. </div> Well, the Grizzlies' actually run most of their offense through Gasol. They have seven basic plays which they run: the side screen and roll, high screen and roll, the elbow screen with a four-option, the turn four fist punch, the turn four, the turn out to post play, and lastly, the vplay. All of those plays either directly or indirectly involve Gasol, to the point where his decision making impacts their entire offense. His stats just aren't as high as, say, Kevin Garnett's are for two reasons. One, the Grizzlies have limited his minutes ever since Hubie Brown decided it was a good idea to cut back his playing time in favor of his ten man rotation. Two, the Grizzlies have one of the league's slowest pace attacks and have ever since Sidney Lowe was fired. They rival the Spurs in terms of possession lengths. So if Gasol were to get out of that of that system, then I guess that yes, he could really be even more of a beast than he already is, on the stat sheet at least, and that's exactly my point. The guy's a legitimate superstar. You'd have to be crazy to deal him for a player like Tyrus Thomas. That'd go down as one of the worst deals in league history. (BTW - Off topic, but how many Euroleague games to you get to watch, M? That's got to kick major ass. I only get the occassional NBA TV games, which 99% of the time are just Maccabi.)
Yeah I agree that if Gasol were dealt for Thomas and Brown the Grizz would really be in a deeper hole then they already are. Not to mention that trade would lose more fans and the franchise doesn't need that right now. However, I don't think that would even be possible, though I do think Gasol wouldn't fit in well here either since Skiles works on a team effort style rather then focusing on a player or two. Gasol would probably play to his best if he were dealt away to a team like Phili or even Cleveland. Imagine Gasol and James on the same team. That would either be a huge bust or one of the best tandems in the league's history. We just will never know unless it actually happens, though I highly doubt Cleveland would deal for him anyway, just a thought is all. I understand that the Grizz design a lot of plays for Gasol, but the type of plays they run aren't his style from what I've seen. He's more dominant then that because I remember seeing him play two games before he was in the NBA and he was the most aggressive European player I've ever seen. Usually European style is more about flash and flair, but Gasol was hardcore and a lot of Euro players hated him for it. A side that he barelly lets out here (at least from what I've seen before) he's rather mellow in the NBA in my honest opinion. He should unleash that aggressive style and use his athletisism to help attribute to better play. he could score much more then he currently does or ever has before. I get plenty of Euro games out here, mostly from the Italian or French leagues. I know that NBA TV sucks for Euro broadcasts and I truthfully hadn't even notice Maccabi was on so damn much until you actually mentioned it. Most enjoyable here is a team I've followed from Pau for years, (?lan B?arnais) which has notably given the NBA players like Diaw, Pietrus and Petro. The funny thing is that I have ties to each of those players. My fianc? went to college with Diaw and Pietrus an her friend dated Petro for years. I actually have some rather funny stories about how stupid he is. He's a nice guy, but he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
