Over the years famed Dutch kickboxing club Golden Glory has produced some of the best including Semmy Schilt, Gokhan Saki, Marloes Coenen, and Alistair Overeem. But kickboxing in Holland has also been inexorably intertwined with organized crime. Ron Nyqvist, founder of Golden Glory, was also a member of a violent gang (Brabant), and had recently done time for drug trafficking. Nyqvist was found shot to death yesterday in a garage in Osdorp. He was 47.
