<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Telfair not given offer but is still in picture The Timberwolves have extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith and Chris Richard but did not do so for Sebastian Telfair or Kirk Snyder. By extending those offers, the Wolves reserve the right to match any offers Gomes, Smith or Richard receive when free-agent negotiations begin Tuesday. They did not offer Telfair a qualifier because they would have had to guarantee him a $3.5 million salary, but they remain hopeful they can re-sign him. Randy Foye is the only point guard currently under contract now that the team traded away the draft rights to O.J. Mayo and Marko Jaric on Thursday night. Vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said the team will look at other free-agent options if it cannot strike a deal with Telfair, a three-year pro.</div> http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/2...rackSectionName I read in the full article in the newspaper that they will be either offering Telfair a contract or going after a solid veteran to back up Foye. I personally hope they get Bassy back for next year. I think the kid can play and would succeed as a backup for this team. He did last year at least.
I'd like Bassy back too....but I still hold firm to my wish of Minnesota going for Duhon at PG and trying to get Diop to help inside
Since they didn't get Mayo, I think Telfair played well enough for them to get a new contract. I think I was just about the only person in the restaurant cheering when Portland picked him in the draft, and I still cheer for him.
I like Telfair as well and had hoped that the Celtics would keep him somehow but that didn't work out.
