Undefeated lightweight Jose Gonzalez (16-0, 12 KO’s) kept his unbeaten record intact on Friday night with a 6th round stoppage of Jose Cuevas (14-7, 12 KO’s) at the Coliseo Antonio R. Barcelo in Toa Baka, Puerto Rico. Cuevas didn’t answer the bell for the 6th. Gonzalez punished Cuevas with hard shots for most of the fight, tagging him again and again with big shots and pretty much dominating this bout. Cuevas was game but was badly over-matched in this fight. In other action on the card, featherweight contender Jonathan Oquendo (21-2, 14 Ko’s) defeated journeyman Adolfo Landeros (21-20-1, 10 KO’s) in a 1st round blowout. In hindsight, the fight probably should have never been made because at this point in his career, Oquendo should ideally be facing live bodies, not journeyman. Oquendo came out fast and swarmed Landeros, nailing him with shot after shot until the fight was halted at 1:47 of the 1st. Source:BoxingNews24
