Hey, thought this was too good not to post.

Win a Taylormade R9, R7 Limited, '09 Burner Driver if Sergio Garcia wins the 2009 Masters!

Because of lawyers they have to have the "no purchase necessary" part. Normally you buy one of those drivers and they give you a refund if Sergio wins.

Everybody wins if Sergio wins...crazier things have happened!!!

    Address to mail it to:
    Golfsmith Driver Refund Promotion

FYI Sergio has 15-1 odds to win it...WAY better chances than most!

They must have changed the promotion on us then. Click on the link and it suggests exactly what you say...buy a driver and get refunded if Sergio wins. I would have just sent in a form if I thought I could get a free driver out of it, but definitely won't do that now.

    Oh well. :sigh:

You are wrong....look at page 4 of the forum I linked you to. At the very end it asks what kind of driver you want and its specs at the end of the page.

    THIS IS LEGIT!

Okay, well I don't play golf really....yet. But that'll likely change. What driver do you recommend I request? What's the most shiny, fancy and expensive?

10 or 10.5 degree(whichever they make it in, if they have both id go with 10.5), regular flex

Dont think the lower the degree the further you will hit it. Drivers these days are meant to be hit at a higher trajectory. Hell, even Vijay uses a 10.5 degree. The difference between a couple of degrees is night and day. Lower the degree = much harder to hit well.

If you are just starting golf you shouldnt even touch a driver. The setup is different and harder to figure out. Just work on hitting irons, chipping and putting. Once you have spent some time on the driving range go to the shortest, easiest, all par 3 golf course around you.

Learn how to hit a pitching wedge first then go from there. The lower the degree of the club the harder it is to hit well

    Few tips on a swing:

Imagine you are holding a bucket of water when you swing. You want a long rhythmic extended swing with a full follow through

Swing through the ball, not at it. In other words get a good swing and then let the ball get in the way of the swing, dont hack at the ball. Let the club put the ball in the air, dont lift up the club trying to scoop it up

Have a SLOW backswing. New players think you have to swing back fast to hit it hard. The backswing should only focus on getting the club in a proper position for the downswing. Good technique beats power every single time!

Learn from your mistakes at the driving range, dont just hit balls as fast as you can tee them up. You can learn from the ball flight what is right or wrong about your swing.

Thanks for the tips. My ex-girlfriend played golf at University of Portland and George Fox, so she tried to teach me a bit before we split. I'm by no means "good" with the irons, but I agree that it is much easier to hit with them. Drivers are so different that at this point I don't even try. I'll tee it off with the 3-iron since there's a better chance I won't shank it.
