I'm gonna put in my 2 weeks soon at Walgreens so I'm gonna need something to fall back on. I'm wondering what are some good non-retail jobs to apply for?
Actually I'm a long time JBBer but I left S2 for a while haha. Thanks though, 'preciate it. Just something where I don't have to deal with alot of people.

I did this in HS, pulled 20 dollar tips all the time. -Petey

Lol, I'm thinking about quitting at Longs (Walgreens ripoff in California) since my best work friend just left yesterday. I'm just sick of dealing with the massive hoards of (ignorant, rude) people all the time. Not enough positives left anymore to stick around. Back when I first started I was good friends with most of the people I worked with which made the work much more bearable, now theres no real "friends" just a bunch of people who I know because I've worked there for a year and a half. Seems like a good time to go somewhere else I would enjoy more and start over sort of. I'm not 18 yet so the number of jobs available more limited than for you Schaddy. Someone else mentioned working in a warehouse. That wouldn't be too bad of a job IMO. You don't have to deal with the public, its pretty laid back work, relaxed environment, etc. Plus a lot of my friend who started working at warehouses have lost weight and gotten more toned because its like you're working out the entire time you're there with all the boxes and shit you have to move around. Right now I'm trying to find some smaller stores like in a mall or something where theres not a lot of work to do and there's not a lot of customers. Not another gigantic chain store. I've got a year and a half experience at Longs so that helps but I'm just not sure exactly where I want to go yet.
I dont know about the US but I make crazy coin out of being a cocktail bartender. Also look into barista work. Pays well in London and Aus, why wouldnt it pay well in the US....

It's pretty good pay and the managers don't give you crap as long as you do the work. I only last 6 months though, most open spots are for the night shifts and I needed my sleep.

I don't know. Maybe I might get a job at the mall or something if I HAD to just work in a store again. Anyone ever worked at Gamestop? How was it?

You're going to deal with a-holes at some point no matter where you work. I recommend working for a company that can give you a great referral later on.

He had a lot of trouble getting hours there, worked like 3 hours a week because they have TONS of employees and you don't need more than a few people working there at a time. He was new though so obviously he was the lowest priority but it still sucked for him. Lots of rude customers too, lots of ignorant but rude moms/parents. I'm sure you know the type having already worked in retail; treat people who work at stores like they're below them, don't understand what is going on at all but still try to work the system, etc. Obviously its cool to work around video games all the time and get discounts. It can be dead a lot of the time, which may or may not be good for you (some people hate having nothing to do at work). At other times though, it can be nuts and be really overwhelming since, as I said before, theres like 2-3 employees working at a time. During the holidays or on days where new systems or big time games are being released its a lot to handle. Also I remember this guy being really pissed that the company forced him to try and push all these packages and warantees when he rang people up. Even when they were clearly not into it, its company policy that the employees must try and sell these things and that just got the customer irritated, which sucks because he doesn't even want to sell the thing to the guy.
