That's not hockey you buffoon. It's exactly what isn't hockey and it's beyond stupid. Your fascination with fighting is absurd. Get over it.

Agreeing with dump. There is no reason for pre determined fights anymore. This shit is what all the media plays off of giving hockey a black eye

Torts making it about himself and his massive ego as usual.

And Struds just start following the UFC or something already, I don't think you've started one thread without talking about fighting. Really odd obsession you have there.

There's a time and place for fighting but last night in Vancouver was an embarrassment to hockey. Can't really fault Torts for responding to the line Hartley started but going after Hartley during the first intermission was ridiculous, Johnny Temper at his worst.

Exactly panzer, the problem with staged fights like that is it starts the 'ban fighting' debate, which could end up including fights that are necessary and part of the game like when an opposing player takes a run at somebody.

Good coach, not great. Doesn't ever keep lines together to build chemistry. That is why his PP's sucked. Same reason. He moves people around all day.

Total embarrassment to hockey. So glad that clownass torts is outta here. Liking the calmer AV more and more as the rangers play better and better. And right on the ball dump with allowing the lines to get some chemistry. That seems exactly to be what all of them are doing right now. This should be at least a 5 game suspension for captain queeg.

What a surprise, you guys are basing your perception of hockey off NYR Hockey. Fighting is a tradition and an important element of hockey. Last night goes deeper than guys staging fights. Half of the guys that fought, Smid, Jones, Butler, Garrison, and Lain (played college hockey, so did not fight at all) don't fight too much . . . Smid being the heavyweight of that group in terms of FMs. It was a statement made by the Van that CAL wasn't going to go headhunting against the nucks.

Fuck the UFC, most hockey fighters would destroy guys in the UFC if they went toe to toe.

I don't mind fighting in hockey, but 2 seconds into the game is beyond rediculous.

What did you want him to do? Hartley started Westgarth at C. Its Lain's first NHL game, he put Bieksa there so he could grab Westgarth but Bieksa went after Smid. He wasnt going to put H. Sedin out there to start. I think Torts is a baby; Hartley can start whoever he wants.

I totally understand fighting's place in hockey especially as retribution for over the line antics but what happened last night in Vancouver was akin to "professional" wresting, absolutely embarrassing to the NHL. What are you saying Struds, Vancouver dissed Calgary so heads had to roll? How about Calgary playing a hard, physical 60 minute game. What the Flames did proved nothing other than they're a perennial cellar dweller but they'll go if someone insults them (as if their record isn't insulting enough!). I'll give the officials credit for ejecting 8 players and keeping the situation somewhat under control. I also think Hartley deserves a 3-5 game suspension with Torts.

Glad he is outta here. If he were a good coach, Sather would
have kept him. Torts is an egoist. His way or no way. Just a
bully with power.......and the NHL will come down very hard.
    Games + money.

I don't think Tort's will last to long in Vancouver. In my opinion, I think his style wears thin on his players.

I would've loved it if I was in the crowd but this is beer league stuff from Hartley.

His style wears thin on the game itself.

If the fans of Vancouver loved what they saw on the ice, they
    deserve Torts......and all his BS.
