This year's entry featuring a first-rounder, two second-rounders and a trade acquistion appeared much more promising, which says something about either the failings of the past or hope for the Jazz's future.
    Take your pick.
After spending four nights at Salt Lake Community College this past week, I would choose the newly arrived foursome of Ronnie Brewer, Dee Brown, Paul Millsap and Rafael Araujo - yes, even counting Araujo, after a full review of the Rocky Mountain Revue - over that 2003 group of DeShawn Stevenson, Raul Lopez, Curtis Borchardt and Sasha Pavlovic.
That judgment is aided by knowing what happened over the next few
years, and there's no way of telling exactly how the latest players will turn out. Soon enough, they will be scolded by coach Jerry Sloan, buried on the bench, frustrated, discouraged and possibly shipped to Albuquerque of the NBDL.
For now, everything's encouraging. This year's three draft choices - who should be fairly advanced, having played an average of 3.3 years of college basketball - and Araujo, who was acquired from Toronto for failed first-round pick Kris Humphries, all look like decent additions.
"Those kids have added some things to us that we don't have," said O'Connor, the Jazz's senior vice president of basketball operations.
