I don't know what I've done to my laptop, but it will work fine for a while and then lag big time. Even after doing a norton scan, a malware scan and restored my laptop to factory specs...but it's still annoying as fuck using my laptop.

And for some reason, I can't complete all my windows updates.

I've tried avista (or whatever it is), search and destroy (but apparently I have to buy it to get it to clean my laptop), and a few others.

Does anyone have any actually good virus/malware/hack scanners out there?

    Malwarebyetes?

    CC Cleaner?

    Avast?

Do you think it's a virus or do you think you have too much running? You might want to reformat your computer. Just reinstall windows. That's the best way to take it back to factory.

The AV that comes with Windows is fine. Norton is a resource hog. Uninstall it.

Also always have Malwarebytes installed on your system. The free version. Don't opt for the free trial of the advance version. If you get something that AV misses run Malwarebytes and it will kill it.

If you have Norton why are you asking about an antivirus?

Gay porn is traditionally virus free.

    Never run two antivirus programs.

Run 1 antivirus program and use Malwarebytes to pick up anything the AV doesn't get.

    4 gig of ram.

I did a malware scan prior to the first reformatting, and it had a ton (I had forgotten I did that).

Whats interesting is this is a laptop I don't go to any questionable sites with.

I'm running another malware scan right now. It's free to get rid of the files, right?

Do you have the HP version of Windows?

I bought a Dell back in 2008, and the Dell version of Vista was just god awful. A friend gave me a copy of Windows 7 professional, with none of the Dell bullshit and the computer hasn't had a single problem since then. If you could get a copy of Windows 7 Pro or something like that, and try installing that, you might see a huge difference.

My laptop would crash on me, it was slow, it was just a huge piece of shit. With just a bare bones Windows 7, it has had no problems at all.
