I'm not sure how Google works its rankings but would I be correct if I said that more times that our link is clicked from that search, the higher we go up that list?

yes, he searches Football forums. it comes up with DYC. were 6th in the world if you put in football forums.

So if you guys wanna get us ranked 1st for all those keywords, be sure to post the site link on other websites, in a non-spammy way.
