I feel out of the loop, but can someone explain to me why the Mavs chose to pursue Gortat over Bass? I know there's still a possibility that Bass might re-sign, but yet the Mavs seem less interested. Did he ask for too much money? More than the MLE? At this point, I would rather give Bass the whole MLE than Gortat. But that's just me.
Bass is a 6'8 power forward Gortat is a 7'0 center They probably wanted an upgrade from Dampier. And Bass is pretty much backing up Dirk, or if they play him at center, he's severely undersized.
Oh you're probably right. I did hear that they might shop Dampier. Gortat isn't an upgrade over Dampier anyway.
