After reading in the Star Ledger yesterday that Sean Williams would be at a event at a McDonalds in Woodbridge NJ, I decided to take a trip down their today to see what was up. It turned out to be pretty cool. Got to meet him and play against him in the parking lot where they had a make shift CAA set up in the back. Nets cheerleaders were their along with Sly. What I got out of him was that he wants to be in the rotation this year and im talking meaningfull minutes. He said "If I dont get on the court a lot im going to be down, cause im putting in so much time in the gym right now its crazy." He also said he wants to lead the rookies and NBA in blocks this season. He's a really nice guy and down to earth. I wish him nothing but the best this season and in his NBA Career.

Also what I got out of a Nets rep their was that Houston is"75 %" likley to come to the Nets this season. So we shall see.

Lucky you! I really like his mentality, because the only way you will get playing time, is if you put in a significant amount of time in improving your game. I really want him to shine this season, but he will need to continue working his ass off.

Hopefully he doesn't take it too hard if he doesn't get the minutes.

How did he look out there? Send any shots to the 3rd row?

He looked good, but he could use some weight it looked like. He sent one of my shots to the McDonalds drive through lol. He blocked this one guys shot, no lie, the guy was by the 3 pt line, Sean was by like the top of the key and just jumped a little bit and swatted it. His arm span is amazing when you see him block upclose.

does he understand that he has to do more than lift weights and block shots?

Why would he do more. Lol, a great weakside defender, he will just block shots all day. Plus with Kidd, he'll score like 6 a game.

sounds great!! I really hope he plays this season and proves himself. Plus, his name is Sean (and spelled the same way) so I'm really rooting for him! [IMG]

Pretty cool man, I hope this kid could help a lot in the season begin, because Nenad might need the time to play in 100%.

Nenad might get a little time, and Boone, Magloire, Sean, Allen might contribute more.

Maybe Allen is a insurance for Nenad?

Flip side: he's been working like crazy in the gym way before training camp starts. This is a kid who's had questions about his work ethic and passion for basketball. And every rookie big man in the history of the NBA has needed to work on their upper body strength before they're really up to full speed.

I think it's a very, very good sign. The only thing I'd worry about now are basketball IQ and his lack of any scoring moves, but those will both grow with time. I'm just happy he's got the fire.

don't you think he does have a good basketball IQ, with his great ability to block shots? that's what i'd think.

but it's great to see that he hopes to make an impact in the rotation this season, and i hope he does lead the rookies in blocked shots/blocks per game. he's probably the leading candidate now that Oden's out.

love the news that you got out of sean, but i am not sure he is going to get what he wants: meaningful minutes and a lot of them. outside of krstic, collins, magloire i think frank is really going to like Malik and give him a bunch of minutes and boone too. i think if sean wants to get in a lot of minutes he might have to beat out boone and i think he can since boone is coming off of surgery...again. with all the reports of how raw sean is i cant see him getting a lot of meaningful minutes. i can see him playing in a limited role consistantly at the begining of the year and hopefully towards the end he improves and gains frank's trust to play more meaningful minutes like josh got last year at teh end. im really excited to see him play this year, he needs a big training camp and preseason if he wants those meaningful minutes

Boone had minor knee surgery. Unlike last off-season, when he was coming off shoulder surgery, he can lift weights and work on upper body strength, which apparently he is doing. I don't really know much else.

I thought he displayed a couple of moves in the summer league. I really hope he comes along faster than they've been trying to get us to expect.

Sean's work eithic is pretty good, IMO. His dramatic improvement in free throw shooting during his final year at BC shows he put forth some effort to improve a major weakness in his game. His defensive smarts are quite high as well. In one of his pre-draft highlight videos, he blocked a shot into the stands, but then realized his mistake. He knows he should have kept the block inbounds. This is very important, as it can trigger numerous fast breaks.
