Popular Cavaliers' television color analyst Matt Guokas has been relieved of his duties by Fox Sports Net. Guokas, a former player, coach and general manager in the NBA, received a call from Fox Sports Net executives Steve Liverani and Tom Farmer Tuesday informing him of their decision. "That's it," Guokas said from his home in Florida. "Those things happen. It was a good seven-year run. I enjoyed my time with Fox and the Cavaliers. Steve and Tom were good to work for and so was the production staff. (Play-by-play announcer) Michael Reghi is top-notch."

Guokas will continue his duties of covering the NCAA tournament for CBS Sports, something he's done for the last three years. "The Cavaliers told Fox they would prefer to have a former Cavaliers player (be their color analyst)," Guokas said. "I would think Austin Carr would do it." Carr already does the games on WUAB-TV with Reghi. There's a possibility Carr would do the color commentary on both stations, but former Cavaliers swingman Craig Ehlo is also a candidate for the Fox Sports Net gig. A Cavaliers spokesman said Sunday evening the team had no comment at this time.

"It was an enjoyable time," Guokas said. "In the good years and the bad years, there's still plenty to talk about - basketball strategy, players, coaches, good basketball, bad basketball." He enjoyed documenting Cavaliers guard LeBron James' rookie year in Cleveland.

"That was amazing," Guokas said. "It's not that everyone didn't think he'd be good, but I don't think anyone expected it to the degree he was. That was eye-opening, and he's only going to get better. There's room for growth there. He will put in all the time and effort into it."

Guokas, a former head coach in Philadelphia and Orlando, said he's not bitter about the decision. "Not at all," he said. "These things don't last forever. Basketball is a game of constant change." </div>

    Meh.

    Don't like it.

Carr is awful. Hopefully Ehlo works out better.

I think Austin has a couple of cold ones before he starts announcing.
