@Denny Crane and I will support President Trump and ban any illegals that we catch posting here. This will not become a sanctuary forum.

Though Oregon law already forbids state and local law enforcement agencies from using public resources to find or arrest those whose only crime is being in the country without proper documentation, Brown's order goes a step further in solidifying the state's sanctuary status by expanding the law to all agencies.

The governor's order also forbids state agencies from using public resources from helping to create a religious registry, and makes it illegal for state agencies to discriminate based on immigration status.

Brown also asked Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to "explore legal remedies" available to "resist" Trump's travel ban in court.

Last month, Oregon was left off an early list of priority infrastructure projects to receive federal funding.

Trump just signed an EO turning Crater Lake into the nation's nuclear waste dump.

Just waiting for the EO making all federal grants go poof for states and cities ignoring federal immigration laws. You know it's coming.

My green card says Bimart on the bottom but that guy at the Home Depot said it's totally legit.

Wonder how far it'll go when she's reminded that pot is still a federally controlled substance and illegal to possess, cultivate and sell? And that $20+ million you took in from taxing it last year? Nope. :smiley-pat:

That only works for the states that get back more from the feds than they pay in.

Not really. The taxes are still paid either way, but sanctuary cities and states would get no federal dollars back.

What's so freakin' stupid about the illegal immigration issue is that it would take about two minutes for reasonable representatives from both sides to forge a deal that would resolve it:

We've got 11 million or so undocumented people here and there's no reasonable way to think that we're ever going to deport them. Give them permanent resident status and green cards so they can work and pay taxes. They go to the end of the line to gain citizenship. In exchange, there's a realistic effort to control the borders by whatever are the most effective means and we establish an e-verify system to prevent people without proper documents from getting jobs. We put the screws to any employers who violate the law.

Damn! What's so hard about this thing?

Exactly. Deporting people is a waste of time. Make it impossible for them to make a living, find housing, drive, etc. and they will leave. It's that simple.

    Been there, done that, Reagan.

It crushed the unions and gave us the slave wages we have today.

What makes you think that would go to the supreme court? If you nuke California Trump does win the popular vote.
