We got Claver, Pendergraph, and Cunningham. We traded Sergio for a little bit of cap space.

Edit: we now also have Patrick Mills.

3 guys who will never play for Portland. It has to be an F. Explain the moves that were made? I don't get any of them. Would rather had Brockman.

Pendergraph was a good pick, and Claver looks like he has real potential. Definitely more than Freeland.

At face value it looks pretty benign. I like Pendergraph, Claver is probably going to be a pretty good player in a couple of years, Cunningham looks like a bust to me, but I'm guessing the real value of the trades and selections made today won't be known until we see some trades for veteran players made or moves made in free agency.

I've got nothing but idle speculation and some rumors that have been floated to base this off of, but I think the Blazers already have a deal in place to make a move for Hinrich and Deng and Cunningham and Claver will be included in that deal along with Blake and Travis.

    C

    Pros
    Got rid of sergio
    Got Pendergraph

    Cons
    Passed on Blair 3 times
    Took Claver WAY too high
Tired of stashing players in Europe who never pan out

We don't have that pick do we? I thought it was included in the epin two spot move?

This draft has sucked on the surface. Hopefully it makes a lot more sense come free agency.

    Right now it's an F-

    (I) as in incomplete.

The grade can only be given after I see what KP does with the extra cap space he created tonight.

Agreed with this. Looking at the surface and the talent, I don't expect any of the players will be big rotation guys. But KP and the gang clearly made it their goal that free agency/trades come July 1 is where they will make it happen.

Or at least I hope so...

Then the pick makes some sense IF we then renounce Freeland.

We filled ZERO needs. Pendergraph isn't a banger (well, at least not a good one). He is an average, at best rebounder. I'd rather keep S-Bo.

Claver is years away from being NBA ready - and if he has any success in Europe, he'll stay there where he can make more money.

    Dante who?

Seriously, we could have had a guy who was a better rebounder in college than Paul Millsap (who we passed on three times in 2006) and is REALLY a banger. Instead, we get three guys who will contribute absolutely NOTHING in the upcoming season - if any of them even make the team. If any of these guys are in our top 12, our bench just got worse.

I think the people who are giving this draft a F or D had totally unrealistic expectations. Did you people want another rookie? Did you expect KP to get in the Top 5 and take? I was thinking we would trade out of this draft, and possibly end up with Kirk by the end of the night, but in reality I wasn't expecting to draft anyone. I think Claver is easily our best pick up, he will be good in one or two years and 2nd Round picks are generally worthless anyway. If Pendegraph turns out to be a decent back up PF I think we will have come out of this draft looking pretty good. Moving Sergio gets my approval cause it guarantees Bayless more playing time. I gave it a B.

No I think trading out of the draft would have been better than what happened. At least we would have saved the cash.

Would've been interesting to see if Claver would've been there at 31. I guess we'll never know.
