I was watching Classic NBA and they were showing Grant Hill back in Detroit uniform and boy I once again was surprised what he was capable of doing. Is he ever gonna come back? Not a big fan of him tho but I mourn for the waste of talent. Any updates?

Yea, I saw that too. It's been so long but he was one of the 5, maybe even top 3 players in the League at one point. The guy did EVERYTHING. I tink he was on pace to be in the top 3 of triple doubles in NBA history. Only behind Magic and Oscar.

It sucks when bad things happen to good people.

I really liked Grant Hill...he was something special, and I had no doubt he would tear into the league...but that was until he was injured. Then, I was hoping for a return, but after he sat out last year and the year before, pretty much knowing he wouldn't make it back out on the court, it pisses me off a little because all he's doing now is raking in the money.

I disagree with you. He has already said he is gona give it one more try this year. He is looking better than ever before do to the fact he got a whole year rest for the first time. He can very well come back and be good according to many espn analysts and reports from the team camp.

We'll see. I hope he does come back. But I also hope he takes a MAJOR pay-cut. It's the least he can do.

Well coincidentally, I got to see the dreamteam which Hill was a part of. Boy he didn't make it cuz he got fouled to his arm, but he almost jumped from free-throw line and almost dunked. If not fouled, i think he would have made that dunk. What a freaking leap.
Oh and didn't he initially get injured playing against Heat in the playoff?
Boy i feel bad then as a Heat fan. Ouch sorry

If or when Hill comes back he better do two things. First is take a huge pay-cut like CT said. He's been rotting that bench for some time now watching his Magic win and lose over the years. The second thing he needs to do is come back hard but cautious. He needs to show everyone that he still has it in him even though he had all those ankle surgerys, but at the same time he needs to watch himself and make sure he doesn't hurt the ankle again. If he does he's through.

I hate when people say this stuff.

No. Grant Hill is done. Accept the facts, everyone. Every year they say: Oh he'll be back, this may be his year.
No, no it won't be. He isn't coming back, when you see the man using a walker and a cane you know he can't compete on a stage in the NBA anymore.
I mean if he lands in an unnatural position ONCE he'll be done with. His ankle will not be able to sustain the wear and tear of the NBA for more than 15 games.

Don't get me wrong, I wish him the best.
But I don't think he'll be able to do it and if he comes back and gets hurt he may never be able to walk again.

As they would say here in New York and new Jersey: Fugettaboutit!

Again like I said you can only hope for the best for the guy. He is a great player and has probable the best chance ever at coming back right now. He will be playing a smaller role if he does come back now that the team has players like stevenson (if he is resigned), Mobely, and augman who can play that spot so not as much will be demanded from him.

He could probable come back and play just not 30+ minutes a game he could contribute minorly to the team and play a season for us and stay healthy. After that I think he should opt out of his deal and take less money or retire and be with his family instead of risking further injury to his ankle and not being able to finish his career in the right way.

Either way I think this will be his last NBA season if he comes back and performs well plays over 70 games and doesnt get a ankle injury. I think he should retire because he will be finishing his career the right way and he has alot more to do with his life rather than play basketball. If he injures him self again then its obvious he needs to do another surgery and retire from basketball. He is a smart guy he could probable become a NBA coach or something still involved with the league.

I think he is kind of like Chris Webber. He might be able to play but he'll get burned and dominated.

I think it's naive to count Grant Hill out, as well as to be cocksure about his return.

    The facts are:
Yes, he has tried unsuccessfully 3 times before

Another fact is, this is the most extensive surgery he has ever had. They completely realigned his foot and leg. He has had a year and a half to recover, if he ever had a chance to make a come back, this is the one.

He is no longer walking on a cane. He is practicing but taking precautions at the same time. He has had clearance to dunk for a long while, from his doctor.

Now let's wait until October, before we start taking shots at each other for differing opinions which no one can fully prove anyway.

I think that if he is going to come back anytime, it's going to be this year. But I don't think that he will be the same player that we all remember in Detroit. Heck, I don't think that he is going to be the same players that we saw in his first couple of comeback attempts.

With all the time that he has taken off the court and all the cautiousness that this guy is going to display on the court, he won't be able to compete with the younger guys, and will end up as nothing more than a bench player. That's if (and a big if) he can keep healthy. Personally, I think that he'll last a couple games, get injured again and end up retiring.

I think he's got a good shot. He rushed back befroe. Now he's taken more time out then even the doctors first thought. Grant was nevera player who domineted with his shot. He was a play maker, he ran the show. you do that with your head, so he won't have lost too much from his game. They'll bring him back slowly, they've got more cover now too. So he'll have to be honest to J Davis about how his ankle feels. Also, why would he retire after this year, if it works out. Grant is not a quiter, watch an interview or the Heat game. He tried to play with a broken ankle for pete's sake, he ain't going nowhere if it works out. He plays to win and nothing else. ( ok and sh@t loads of $$$$$$ )

Don't count the man out he's a fighter.
whose to say he cant make a full recovery? granted he will only be a shadow of his former self, but that is 10 notches up on most players in the NBA.
GHill was an all-time favourite of mine back in detroit. i stopped following for a few years, and when i started again, i was crushed to hear that ghill had been injured and was no longer the player i knew.
Good luck to the guy i say, i'm hoping his comeback is permanent.

PS: Tell me who would turn down the money the team agreed to pay him just because of the injury? lets face it, injured playing for the team that signed him, the team owes him the cash in some regards. After all he needs some income to pay his medical bills.
