Just 3 years ago Grant Hill was on the injured list, preparing to make his return to the NBA. And when he did, you all know what happened: All-Star starter and teaming up with Steve Francis to lead a team (with previous year's worst record) that almost made it to the playoffs. There was high hopes for the '06 season for the Magic, especially with the emergence of Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson. But strangely enough Grant didn't play a single game in the '06 season and not much was heard from him since. Does anyone know what's going on with him? Is he returning next season to the court or is he going to retire? Anyways tell me what you heard about him recently.
Supposedly he is doing much better and is ready to play. At the end of last year when the Magic made that run, Grant Hill said that he really wanted to play with these guys and felt he could put them over the top and get into the playoffs.
Part of an article I read a while back: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Hill rehab promising Magic forward Grant Hill's non-surgical rehab for a sports hernia has been so encouraging that Smith expects Hill "to play a full season" in 2006-07. Hill will work four more weeks with abdominal specialist Alex McKechnie, then test himself in early September on the court. Smith said if he didn't feel Hill would recover, "I would have done a couple different things" in free agency this summer, meaning add a small forward. </div> So, yeah, this is supposed to be the big year. I hope they're right this time.
i don't have any links, but i've read in a couple team analysis' that orlando is paying hill $16 million for the next year and there is speculation that detroit may want to buy out his contract to bring him back to where he peaked. my take is detoit won't want to spend the money to buy out the contract, and i expect hill to start because of the leadership and the $$$ we are giving him. we shall see...
Detriot can't "buy out" Hill's contract. Only the Magic can do that. If it were like that, you'd see a lot more players being moved around.

We have to take him through slowly. If we want to keep him for longer in the season then we have to start him slowly by bringing him off the bench for 20 mins then slowly raising his minutes.

I think he needs to be brought in very slow... We havent been able to keep him health at the end of the season when it matters most. If he plays that really makes this team so much better. We usually talk about this team minus hill, so having him would be a huge boost for a pretty deep team...
