Not a stat guy. Far from it. However, if you are you'll love this article. Me, I saw with my own eyes that McIlrath was better than half our crap defenseman lat year and it was obvious. http://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2016...y-to-prematurely-cut-bait-with-dylan-mcilrath
Great article. Agree with every word. Hopefully we hold on to him and he gets some games, but I am not confident. Also, to bust balls for a minute, I definitely enjoyed this part: "Could this be largely due to playing almost exclusively with Keith Yandle? Possibly. McIlrath may very well be a bad NHL defenseman who happened to look passable when hidden in sheltered minutes alongside one of the best puck-moving defensemen of the last decade. We have no clue what the truth is, because the Rangers' coaching staff had no desire to find out." "one of the best puck-moving defensemen of the last decade."
This whole thing makes so little sense on so many fronts I'm starting to wonder how Gorton possibly thinks this is a positive. AV is a fucking asshole
Too bad Yandle sucks Moose dick trying to play any defense in his own zone. Slightly better than Bozo when he was here.
I'll repeat again rangers will not put dylan on waivers as every single team will put a claim in on him. Pretty good for a kid who bubblegum man says is worse defensively than girardi. LOL. Nobody will give an asset for someone the coach denigrates at every opportunity and will be in the press box every game behind a broken down girardi who sucks ass and is again on the first pair somehow, a journeyman 29 year old in holden playing on his off side where he sucks at and a player in clendening who at the ripe age of 22 has already been sent packing from 4 teams and he's here because he is somehow a PP specialist playing against ahl players in PS!!! While a 24 yr old, with size and ability that he showed last year with leadership qualities on a cheap contract will sit in the press box again all season. I hope the kid gets traded for his own sake if this is how its going to play out and beats the shit out of every ranger puppet of AV's when he sees them.
I like Dylan McIlrath's presence on the ice. The bigger question is: Why does Ranger coach Vigneault not like him on the Rangers' D? This coach continues to 'dance around' playing him with no concrete reason.
Spot on article, don't understand why AV's been so stubborn. Makes no sense. I have no idea what type of player McIlrath might be but it's ridiculous to not even try him out.
